From built to pickup?

Went to the dealer today and found out that my E500 was "produced" or already built. Does anyone know how long it takes from factory to pickup at So Cal dealer?

About 5 to 6 weeks would be a close estimate. Did someone say, the waiting was part of the fun?

DVD Nav.

bmms8, I noticed you have the DVD Nav. as a option and you get your car on the 16th. I was told by my dealer that DVD Nav. is not available in the US until Jan/Feb. I really wanted it on my car, which was built on Sept. 2, but still in "production" status for a unknown reason. Which dealer did you get your car from?

Hopefully the west coast dock strike/lockout will be resolved soon or it may be longer than you think!

dalibor21,

You can order DVD Navi now at $500 discount and take delivery of the car without DVD Navi when the car is ready. Then when the DVD comes in (Jan or Feb), they will retrofit the DVD for you at no extra cost. The DVD unit apparantly can be retrofitted into the same area that the current display screen + cassette deck are occupying. Keep in mind that if you go with DVD / Navi, you will lose the casette player.

My dealer told me that MB is "shooting" for the first quarter of next year. That to me means it could be March, April or even May but I hope it is January!

I found this information under the European pick-up section but I would presume it applies to normal shipping of MB cars as well. It just makes sense that east coast delivery is faster than west coast.

From MB Website
Normally, your vehicle will arrive at the east-coast port of Baltimore or Jacksonville in four to six weeks. Shipment to the west-coast port of Los Angeles usually takes six to eight weeks. (Due to circumstances beyond our control, MBUSA, LLC, and its affiliates cannot accept responsibility for shipping delays.)
