03 E320 is giving me big problems!
1)The radio says "please close door" and it wont let you do anything, change channels or do any other functions of the radio, even open up the disc changer below, the tape door is down and I dont know what to do?
2)The car is squeaking like a 71 Buick when going down the road, and sometime when you turn at a very low speed, but out on the road you dont hear it? Also, if the car is stopped and you get it and push down your weight on the fender and hood on the drivers side to try and bounce the car up and down, it sounds like a old busted clunker of a car just squeaking so loud. So I read on this forum some part about the sway bars making that sort of noise, so I jacked up the car yesterday and sprayed everything with Lithium Grease, all the sway bar connections, and every other suspension connection under the car that could be rubbing or making noise, and its still doing it? Did I buy a lemon of a MB or what?
thanks
Also, you don't mention where you bought it (MB dealer, Independent, private) or if it has any warranty at all ?
#2 is more than likely your front lower ball joints. Just because they may not appear worn on the outside (no torn boots), doesn't mean they are not internally worn out. Ball joints are wear items and do wear out over time, just some sooner than others.
But the radio I am still puzzled by, I am scared to force up the tape door for fear of breaking it, so I guess I might replace it if I have to. I searced on Ebay and a junkyard database some of you might have heard of (www.car-part.com) and found no radios, so if anyone knows of any, let me know.

DTB P-B-33.12/22 FEB07 Squeaking/thumping noise from front axle/upper ball joint sealing boot on upper control arm damaged/torn. All 170, 211, 215, 219, 220, and 230 models. Cause may be that the tapered portion of the ball joint was over torqued. This will pull the tapered portion of the ball joint too far into the steering knuckle so that the sealing boot is too taut on the joint and is twisted in this area with each rotary movement until the sealing bellows suffer a fatigue fracture. As a result, the joint corrodes and causes noises. The joint will be replaced.
