Paint / primer on new brake rotors?
Hi all,
Just returned from the dealer parts department where I picked up complete sets of brake parts (pads, rotors, sensors, paste) for a DIY brake replacement on a 2004 e320 wagon.
When I looked at the rotors, they had a coat grey protective primer on them that was described by the parts guy as a way to prevent corrosion on the rotor surface. Never seen this before.
I asked him the best way to remove the primer before install and he just shrugged
Anyone else deal with this? Did you sand off the paint of scrape away with razor blade?
Aloha,
Gabby

Mercedes Benz states officially that there is no need to remove the gray coating.
Letting the pads wear it off works fine.
Can state from experience that this is accurate.
