We just got a new E 350 Mercedes with hands free communication system. Can anyone recommend a cell phone that is compatible with this system?
Thanks

Ive got an MB V710 Motorola Verizon phone in Cradle Family Share Plan. Flawless integration.

I assume your car came with at least P1 option package....
Did you also get a bluetooth puck? It is not included in the package but the dealer may have thrown it in. If not you will need a cradle for a specific phone or the bluetooth cradle that will hook up with nearly all bluetooth phones.
Do a search for bluetooth and all your question will be answered remember 2007 E's are a different animal than previous years.
we use a razr phone (cingular ) works well with bluetooth in our 2007 E550

This is the company that makes the bluetooth adapter for mercedes they have a list of supported phones...
But for us sprint users we are out of luck unless you get a razor or a moto Q or a blackberry.

Looks like the Motorola Q is the only "supported phone" if you want to have hundreds of contacts in Microsoft Outlook available for dialing. I have a little over 2,000 contacts and this has been a limiting factor for finding a compatible phone. I have to have all my Outlook contacts with me. Unfortunately the XV6700 (or the impending XV6800) is not on the list. Has anyone tried the BT interface with the Motorola Q? If so how does the contacts work? Can you dial any of the contacts in the phone using the MB interface? I'd go ahead and buy a separate Motorola Q to be used exclusively in the car with a family share plan for that phone if I can have all my contacts in the phone accessible via the MB BT interface.

You do not need to reset the puck. My wife and I have paired both of our phones to our bluetooth puck. If you both drive the car independently of each other, it will connect without a problem. If you're both in the car at the same time, it will work on a first come first serve basis.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I think the car comes with bluetooth, but I'll verify with the dealer -- Sales person before we purchase a phone. We are out of contract with T-Mobile right now and can shop around for better options and plans.
Have a wonderful day.

You have the phone kit in P1 but this still requires a cradle. I would recommend the razr phone with the razr/bluetooth cradle. This is a great combination as it allows charging and use of the external antenna - neither of which is possible with Bluetooth cradle alone. Best of luck - great car.

Dealer told me today that my Verizon Motorola slim phone will work just
fine in the E350 Sport that I plan to buy very soon.
But, a question: I’m old, retired, always carry a cell phone and don’t use
a phone much in the car anymore. For this phone/car system to work, I
would have to buy the 500 voice system plus 450 for something else.
Is there something more, or - for me - would this 950 expenditure be silly?
By the way, those of you who have the voice system, for example, what
voice commands do you actually use it for?
I guess one plus for me in the car’s speaker/phone system would be that
the car’s speaker could be very loud. (After too many Harley Davidson’s,
I’ve gotten pretty hard of hearing. So, the car’s speaker would be good ..
if I ever used it.)

I have the dealer installed bluetooth puck right now (07 E550 p2), but I think I want to change to the cradle to charge and use the external antenna. I have a Cingular Razr, on the site it is listed as a compatible phone, will I be able to just buy the cradle and replace the puck? Or do I have to get a Mercedes Razr to work properly?
Thanks

I thought if you got “voice” with the car and bought
the $425 thing the dealer sells that you could leave
the phone in your pocket - when you get in the car.
And, wouldn’t need a cradle or anything.

The cradle has bluetooth also, but my main goal is to use the cars antenna to improve reception. Where I drive signals are pretty weak, so it would be a big help to get a little boost. When my phone is in my pocket I get very poor reception- I think my phone is trying to say I need to loose a few pounds. Most of the time I have to take it out of my pocket and leave in in the console.

I can tell you that our Treo 680s don't work at all. Appears that MB and Palm don't think they share customers. Duh! Really pisses us off and everybody points fingers at whose fault it is. Most disappointing feature (completely useless in our case.)
