Hood alignment (weird)

Anyone know how to align the hood? I just noticed the drivers side upper where the hinges are doesn't sit flush with the fender, it's raised about 3/8 of an inch versus the passengers side, it's also affecting how the grille aligns with the bumper.

I took it to the dealer yesterday and they claim they couldn't get the bolts loose so bring it back another day was the answer and would give me no other information. I have no clue how long or how it got this way but little things/ imperfections bug the living **** out of me.

P.S. Yes I it is slammed shut.

I have no useful information for you. But your dealer really said they couldn't get the bolts loose? Um, do they not have impact wrenches? Or were they trying to loosen it with their teeth?

Hood alignment can be a real PIA for one guy alone using hand tools. Make an apointment & have them do it.

You know what bugs me is that I am sure they could have gotten the bolts off "If" they used the right tools, but now after taken a second look, they stripped two of the frigging bolts on me and chipped the paint on the edge of the fender.
No clue what they used to to try and get them off. For all I know, this could have been this way when I bought the car, I could just have been in one of those moods a few days ago where anything and everything bugs me.

Sounds like the car was in an accident. MB has pretty tight tolerances on cars leaving the factory. Bring it back to MB and point out the stripped nuts and the chips. Take and show pix to the Service Manager, not the SA.

When I took it into the shop, the bolts were fine. The service dept stripped them trying to get them off. Car hasn't been in an accident other than a fender bender a few years ago (which I was involved). I've been looking at this over the weekend and looks as though something is stopping the upper left side of the hood from closing all the way. I'm baffled, removed the pistons, nothing, adjusted the stops again nothing.

My conclusion is that one of the hinges is bent or needs adjusting. I plan to take it to the body shop to get there feedback and then head back to the dealership.

I have a 100k warranty and I'm hoping this is covered. The rest of the car is flawless other than this problem.
