JD Powers

I just filled out my JD Powers Initial Survey. After 4 pages of questions about the operation, design, and build quality of the car, I had nothing but "Outstanding" checked off on the form, and not even one checkmark of things that didn't/don't work right.

I even shot off an e-mail to MBUSA to let them know. What a difference!

Got a nice crispy Dollar bill in the envelope too. Funny, I thought my time was worth more than that! LOL

Being superstitious, I'm still gonna hold my breath.

I just mailed the MBUSA new car survey, very, very happy with the E350 after 1100 miles.

Kinda funny to watch the foglight illuminate on turns when my wife was following me last week. At first, I thought one light was out until I realized what was going on!

Can't wait to get the annual CR survey

I am very happy for you guys....However, unless my memories fade real quick, it is unlikely I will buy another Benz in the near future.

And, I think my E-class had a lot fewer troubles than most...

Watch & see. If the reliability holds up as I believe it will, then, outside of not buying a 1st year release of a new model, I think you'd be OK. This IS NOT the same car as my '04.

MB HAD to get serious about fixing these cars. Their reputation was 2/3 of the way down the toilet. You only get one chance to fix it before the reputation goes down the drain. It looks like they took this very seriously.
Finally.

That makes two of us! Zero defect car, and thats more then I could have hoped for. First Mercedes and I guess my timing was right. 4500 miles and I'm loving it.

That is very good to hear, I really want to buy an E550 in another year but I've been scared after the horror stories about 03-04.

I've had an '03 and, better yet, an early-production (9/02) '03, since 9/03. Apart from a bad rear wheel speed sensor, it's never had a disabling problem. There have been a few minor things and recalls fixed at regular service visits, but that's about it. No horror stories here ...

When I got the JD Power survey I dutifully completed all the items until I got to the personal questions at the end; I then realized that the survey was just a pretext to collect marketing data on my household. I threw away the survey and returned their lousy dollar to them.

That's what I usually do with surveys, or I write in fictious personal data to throw them off. You're right -- they can have their lousy dollar back!!

paul...

This survey was all about the car only. Last 4 questions were Single/Married, M/F, Household Income,Phone number/email.

Its all stuff they need to know to see who is buying the car, since they also ask who chose the car & why.

P.S. The Dollar is yours to keep. Buy a Milky Way bar.

I'm really anxious to see if Consumer Reports and JD Powers surveys are going to show any improvement with the 07' Benzes. I mean the S-Class at the very least show get glowing remarks for a change, no one on that board has had a problem to speak of. Amazing. The 07 E seems to have turned the corner too. The GL I know will get a black eye from them, just going by the problems people are having on this board, but the E and especially the S should do well and finally get "recommended" status Consumer Reports. We'll see. If they don't I'm done with caring about what surveys have to say about these cars.

The quality coming out of 'bama is still not up to snuff in my opinion. The locally sourced parts is probably the issue.

1244 miles....sweeeeeeeeet(of which, I've clocked about 100)

I quit believing CR many, many years ago, they always buried Volvos and we had sensational cars.

Several friends who recently purchased Lexuses(?) say they wished they'd checked out MB's after seeing ours.

I might think about an E wagon in a couple years if I keep putting high miles on my V70

RE: JD power

It is good to hear of happy owners with the 07's.

My 05 has been pretty much flawless to date, I have encountered no issues at all. I am a very happy MB owner...I still get a smile every time I drive it.

I think the tide started turning about 2 years ago....but the image damage done from the earlier 03 and 04 cars will take some time to go away.

Yup, it certainly did cost them. Reputation wise and economically. I can't understand how they did almost everything wrong in executing a beautiful looking design. ...and the 211 should have been out on the street at least 1-2 years earlier than it was. Keeping the previous design out too long was also wrong.

Completed my CR survey today on both cars, gave highest possible ratings for both.
Plan to look very hard at the E wagons just prior to the 212 release if they "Make me an offer I can't refuse"!
I am extremely impressed with our E350W4

The '07's do look nicer and so far nice reports. I have 24k on my '06 and so far so good but the AC smells like mildew at times and the brakes made a funny noise early on but haven't heard it lately. Oh yeah, sometimes it'll spit out a cd a few times before it finally is able to read it. That bugs me! Anybody else have these problems with their '06?
