3.5/3.7 Engines for E
Does anyone know for sure about the E350 engines scheduled for US Cars
in 2003? First of all my information indicates that they will be 3.7 L engines
but will be called 350. Also does anyone know if they will be the direct gas
injection type or merely an enlarged displacement version of the current
3 valve engines being offered merely as a stop gap until the direce injection
versions come on line? If they were 3.7 L direct injection types I would
think the horsepower would be at least 360-370.

I don't know much about engines but I'd be surprised if the new engine would have 360-370 hp. If that is the case it would go in the 500 and not the 320 since the current 500 has 302hp.

The engine is 3.7!
The size of the new engine is 3724 cm with 245ps. So that is 3.7 liters with about 240HP in US spec. It appears that the 3.7 liter will first be found in the new SL350 and S350. The torque is 350nm. I don't know the US torque number.

Since we know the 350 will be an enlarged version of the current V6, I would
still like to know if anyone has any firm information on when the V6 CGI
(Gas Direct Injection Engines) will be available? So far we only have the
4 Cylinder CGI Engines currently available in the C Coupes.
