MY08 E-Class Changes

MY08 E-Class Changes
Other than a few minor items, I would expect very few changes for MY08. The car was facelifted for MY07 so anything further would be a big suprise. A couple of new colors are available. The USA names are Sienna Black (170) and Indium Grey (963). Sienna black was the color of the Saks Special Edition E350 sport models (black with slight brownish flip) and Indium grey is available as of MY07 on the CLS. The AMG Sport Package is also available now and includes AMG front and rear bumpers, 5 spoke AMG wheels and the AMG design sport steering wheel with shift paddles. Package costs $2k which I think is a good price. The 550 is now available only as a sport model.

I was told I could order an '08 for August delivery. I can buy a new 2007 now for Invoice but if I wait until June there might be $1,500 in trunk money which would come off Invoice. However, I've been looking for a 2007 and the pickings are getting slimmer all the time. It boils down to possibly saving $1,500 by waiting for the trunk money at the cost of lost choices.
If you aren't picky about colors and options then wait. I did with my 2004 E320 and it worked out OK. One other thing to consider is that the cars that are available in June may have been sitting around for weeks if not months. Just recently cars started coming in with wheels similar to those that were on the W211's with 16" wheels. Earlier 2007 E350's got wheels which aren't nearly as nice. The point is that if you can find a fresh 2007 right now that you like, you are probably better off buying it rather than waiting for the trunk money.

2008 production/changes
For Canadian E Class production, there are a number of changes applicable to the E320 Bluetec and E350 4Matic (no E350 RWD available in Canada). Both Sat radio and cellular telephone prep become standard items.
For the Bluetec, HK sound is included as standard (previously a $1500 option). Parktronic becomes part of the Premium package.
Two new colours added : #170 Columbite black metallic
# 755 Tenorite grey metallic
Two colours deleted : #353 Platinum blue metallic
#747 Granite grey metallic
A previous poster mentioned #963 Indium grey metallic; this colour already exists for Canadian E Class.
Sport package remains a no cost option for 2008 E350 4Matic, but not available for the Bluetec until at least MY2010.
US specs will likely differ from the above Canadian ones; but the trend seems to suggest more goodies included as standard equipment.
No word yet on 2008 pricing and no mention of adBlue for the Canadian Bluetec model.

cell phone prep has been standard already on the E for USA, Sirius prep was dropped in 2005 and became a factory install only option... cannot see them adding sirius prep BACK to the E-class. Canadian E-classes also had sirius prep until late 2005.

What is “trunk money?”
I assume it’s some kind of dealer rebate but I never heard of it until this forum.

It's an inside term for incentives. If you go to www.edmunds.com and price a car, you will see an *incentives* link just below the line with MSRP, Invoice. etc. I'd guess around June you will see a cash to dealer incentive. Sometimes it gets pretty good.
