When I got my C6, I was told the week it would be built, then notified that
it was built, then told the day it was put on a truck to my dealer. Corvette
also - on my request - gave me the name & phone number of the trucking
company, with the routing info, etc.

That information made the waiting period a little more interesting.

So, regarding MB dealers ..

Are they automatically informed that the car has been built?
Are they automatically informed as to any holding period before shipment?
Are they automatically informed that it has been loaded on the boat?
Are they automatically informed when the boat will arrive in the US?
ETC ..

None of the above are “killer” items. Just items of “car buyer’s interest.”

One good thing about the C6’s follow up progression, was that I could do
some of it on my own .. without “troubling” the dealer.

Here’s what you can do on your own when the dealer relays the VIN and ship’s name coming from Germany. You can track by vessel http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...esselSearch.do or VIN http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto – when the ship arrives your vehicle will proceed to the MBUSA Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) in Jacksonville, FL for preparation (i.e.: updates, damage , installs) before it is delivered to the dealership.

Dan, do you know which company handles shipments to the west coast and can they be tracked? My car is being built in the same decade as jimm's.

Same company, your vehicle will unload at the Los Angeles port, be processed through the VPC in Carson, CA, then on to PHXMC.
