Question About Service Intervals

I have a 2007 E550 with just under 7,000 miles. It was purchased on July 31 of last year. The service indicator says a Service C is due in 14 days, although up until a short time ago it said 13,000 miles. When I called the dealership to inquire about this, the service advisor (after consultation) said that the car was manufactured in May 2006 and that is why the service is due. This sounds wacky to me. That means that if a car takes two months to get to a dealer and then sits there for six months, it will be due for a service four months after it is purchased. Has anyone else encountered this theory of service intervals?

I guess one of the sticky post by konigstiger would answer your question.

The maintenance system that applies to your vehicle is fixed @ 13000 miles or 1 year. I would suggest checking the individual items associated with the Service C recommendation. Note the items, schedule a maintenance appointment and discuss what actually needs to be addressed. IMO it should have been reset upon taking delivery unless the vehicle was previously used as a demo whereas use and mileage was accumulated.

Checking Service Menu (MFD):

- Ignition on to position one;
- Outside temperature should be displayed, if not move to it;
- Press the trip odometer reset three, voltage display will appear;
- Scroll to Service Menu;
- Service data submenu (Here you can confirm/reset individual or all items if need be.);
- Ignition off;
- Ignition on (If confirmation is performed display will show mileage/day recalculation.).

Thanks!

OK, it makes sense now (more or less).
