Just Order My E500
After reading this forum for so many days, today I decided to go to a local MB dealer to test out the E class. I have to say that I am very impressed with both the E320 and the E500. However, I think the E500 handles the road much better than the E320 (acceleration, sudden stop, curve, bump, etc.). I originally only wanted to buy the E320, but I ended up ordering the E500. I thought I would get more for the extra money I spend on the E500. The color is Platinum blue with Ash leather, CD changer, E2 Package and Rear Window Sunshade.
The only problem is that my car won't arrive until the end of December. I hope that I get the car just in time for Christmas. Then it would be a special present for me....

2003 MB E500
Congrats on the order. It is hard to turn down the 500 IMO. Palt Blue is a great lloking color too. December sounds about right. I ordered in mid August and mine is to arrive at the end of October. Good luck.

Can someone clear up this confusion? I thought the $1K gas guzzler tax still stays after 1/1/03. I thought only the lux tax goes away....
For me this is important if I go E500. Also, here in Texas I have not found any dealer to go even $1 off MSRP. I had one guy that said $750, but when it came down to doing the deal, he back off.
The only places that I know have given some deals are out of state like in NJ/NY...

Yes, I am awared of the lux tax going away beginning of Jan 1, 2003. I am thinking of delaying it until then. I am not sure about the guzzler tax going away though. Has anyone solid information on this? If both taxes are gone by the beginning of 2003, I definitely wait until then. A couple of weeks save me close to $2K. It is worth it!!! I may add other things to my car using this money....
On the MSRP, my dealer won't yield anything at all. I think you may be able to get some $$ off for the E320 but not the E500. In addition, I think there are more people buying these cars, thus it is hard to get any discount.
