I have recently seen cars at the MB dealer with both the "e350" and "amg" if they were only equipped with the amg appearance pkg. IMO, you should either keep your car as it is "e500" or debadge it for a cleaner look. if the car looks nice, i wouldnt care if it said e320 or e63...

It wouldn't matter unless one WAS a 320, and the other WAS an E 63. Then, boy would it matter!

IMO, the AMG badge belongs on AMG cars. An AMG is well known by everyone as a "performance package." That added performance comes from the additional horsepower, stronger brakes, superior handling, and then the appearance/interior trim.

The facts of the case are as follows:

1) I bought a cherry pre owned 2005 E500. Low optioned car (no NAV, HID's, Keyless Go, Pano, HK, Sirius, etc), but paid only $44k in May of '06 with only 9k on the clock.
2) It was the exact color combo I was looking for - Pewter Silver Metallic over Ash.
3) It did not have the Sport or AMG package, but I was jonesing and had to have the car.
4) I have since begun a slow voyage into making the car my own. Powerchips ECU, K&N drop ins, AMG body kit, quad tips, AMG sway bars and tie rods - front and rear, AMG pedals, killer 19" (Axis 'Matrix') wheels - staggered setup that I get compliments on almost every day, earth shaking sound system (JL Clean Sweep, amps, and sub, Infinity Kappa series speakers), and DVD headrest system by Visual Logics.

Now..... my question is...with the pure AMG pieces I've added, is it politically OK to put the AMG badge on the car (work with me all you "debadged is better guys) ???

I'm not presenting the car as an E55 clone by any means, but it is essentially an AMG equipped car, so why not the badge if I'm so inclined?

In the end, I'll do what I want, but I enjoy and value hearing the POV's from this group - so sound off !!

Thanks.

Mods are cool, the AMG badge, not necessary. I wouldnt. No badge is the way to go...

As a C55 owner, I must notice an AMG poser about once a week or so. Each time I'm disappointed and almost get into an accident trying to get a look at the guy!

Exactly what did you say?

if you want to put any badges on your car i would get those really small black ones and put them on the fenders right behind the front wheels, like the old 'sportline' badges.... amg trunk badge will look daft, there are so many people doing it even real amg's are starting to look bad with it...!

Didn't have time to say anything, I'm afraid. We were driving in the same direction in adjacent lanes - mine was moving a bit faster.

I was in the S4 (properly badged ) and simply pointed to the rear of his car and laughed.
