Is SBC reliable??
Hello guys :
I´ve been offered an E-class 240 V6 of 2004, the car is quite new and has 45,000 Km done. The only thing that makes me doubt about it is that this model has the SBC system and i heard bad things about this braking system not running as it should.
Anyone can tell me if this braking system is reliable or it would be a headache for me¿¿
Thanks
Payson

I believe it's 10 years on only the SBC Controller. See link below.
The most important thing is to make sure the car has had all recalls and other program changes installed. If the system is up to date, it should be reliable.
Check the service records for the car and review this thread:

Outside of the Factory recalls to repair/change some wiring to it, I never had any problem with it, and I didn't feel any difference in braking charactaristics compared to my other 3 cars with conventional systems. I didn't care one way or the other that the car was equipped with it. The non USA versions of it have some additional features that we didn't have here.
Check the vehicle history to see if that particular car had any problems with it other than the Recalls.
