Problems with factory alram and help installing bumper lense

I have an 03 E500 and I bought it at a used dealership. I have a problem with the factory alarm. Everytime I lock the car with the remote the alarm keeps going off. Sometimes its after 2 min, other times it's after an hour, but regardless it sets off everytime. Really a pain in my neighborhood because when I come home to sleep it sets off so now I have to lock manually. I took to a private dealer and they reset the ECU but still same problem. Any help?

Also I purchased clear bumper lenses and don't know how to install. Do I just pop off the lense or do I have to take off the impact strips? Are there screws or do I just pop off?

Re the alarm, a dealer with the Star system is able to read out the exact sensor that is triggering the alarm and change it. Its well worth your money and effort to do the repair this way rather than guess and throw parts at it. Most likely its the tow away sensor but thats just a guess.

On the 211, usually the alarm issue is either the siren itself, the wiring to the siren(water in the plug connection), or a faulty rear SAM. There was a service campaign on a certain VIN range regarding the rear sam, have it checked out at the dealership. Like stated above, the SDS can show the technician what has trigerred the alarm.

Cliff, how goes it?

ko123an:

Service Campaign 2005100009 NOV05 / 211.070 (e500) VIN range A042945 – A159996. They will check the rear Signal Acquisition Module (SAM) and replace if necessary. Covered at no out of pocket cost even if you are out of warranty (48 months / 50,000 miles whichever comes first). Best bet, call a local MB dealer and have them check VMI to confirm if your VIN is included in this campaign.

If your vehicle does not fall within the VIN range mentioned you can mention DTB P-B-54.21/134 JAN05 and the rear SAM will be replaced if needed.
