Just bought an E550!!!!
Ed
The computer shows I am averaging 19.8 over 13k miles mostly city/light highway. However, on interstate runs of 100+ miles, the computer works it way up to 27.9 mpg or so. This is at 70 to 80 constant cruise with a few burst. The car actually seems happier at 80 than at 60.
I am not sure how accurate the computer is, but it seems to match overall mileage and fuel consumption.

The only issue I have are chattering windshield wipers - which I'm going to have the dealership look at.
But you'll love the solid feel of the E550, and the sound of the V8 grunt.

This fall I will need to pick up a set of spare rims with snow tires for those NY winters.
Any issues I should watch out for?
Pro V1- No I did not get 15k off, closer to $7k off with very good residuals and an amazing money factor. Plus they gave me $5k more trade in than the other dealerships I was talking to (It helps to personally know the manager). I think it was a pretty good deal overall...
If you're going from a big 4X4 SUV to this, you'll feel like youre driving a Prius!
P.S. I live on L.I. & have never switched to snow tires for the winter. People here stay home after a quick trip to the Supermarket when there is any snow on the ground. Not because its impassable or dangerous, but because its "fun" to stay home for no reason. The only people out in the snow (going much too fast while talking on the cell phone to see if there are any Twinkies in the house,) are little blond heads in Goliath SUVs... and you don't want to be on the road when they are anyway.

Over 8000 miles and not a problem (My C Service came up- the dealer had not reset the time from the factory, so the time countdown had to be reset - dealer error).
Have a great time
edit - I totally agree with Barry45rpm - the higher the octane the better. I run 93 whenever I can get it.
If I can average 17 MPG I will be quite happy, as long as the days of 12 are gone (with a careful right foot). I am used to putting in premium (about a $hunge worth), I don't even look at the cost of regular...
