solution for dirty door sills?
I'm relatively new to this forum and only had my E320 for 2-months. But there's got to be a solution for the dirty door sills. I've noticed after just a week or two, that part of the door sill that is carpet/fabric gets dirty from my shoes entering/exiting the car. Its that strip of carpet/fabric just inside the chrome/plastic lower sill. Seems kind of poor design having that strip of carpet/fabric. Should have been contiguous chrome/plastic into the footwell.
I'm thinking that could place a short strip of grey plastic to match, somehow attaching with adhesive. Any other thoughts?

I know what you mean bro, I just usually spray carpet cleaner on it and it seems to work fine, try to avoid stepping onto the middle portion of the door as you enter/exit the car...

My fix ...
I have the stone (aka cashmere) interior and with 2 kids my sills looked like @#$%^ within just 2 weeks .. and that was summer time ... I didn't look forward to the mess that winter would bring. My solution was a short strip of heavy duty clear packing tape. It is just wide enough to cover the felt sill strip on top and wrap over the rounded portion that makes contact with the door. I attached an 18" length in the area next to the foot well where shoes usually scrub the sill. I did this on all 4 door sills and I just change the tape when and if it starts to loose adhesion (usually every 6 months or so). The dirt just wipes off. The tape is barely noticeable and 38 months later car still looks like new!

I've used Spot Shot available from any store like Home Depot or Bed Bath & Beyon ( Yes I have to shop there with my wife).
http://www.wd40.com/Brands/spot_shot.html the orange top.
It work miracles on tough stains, especially on the sils. Works great in your house too if you have kids.
When I have inconsiderate passengers, I have a small bottle of windex and a clean cloth in the trunk, I spay a little windex on the cloth and wipe along the direction of the fibers, and it takes\lifts the dirt right off.
Above solution avoids the 60's\70's look of plastic on your sofa

The best stuff I ever used on the Stone interior sills & mats was a "clear" trigger spray bottle of "Blue Coral" Dri-Clean Upholstery Cleaner.
Spray it on wipe back & forth across the sill 4 times with a clean cloth & allow to dry. The results are astounding. It takes all the work out of maintaining that georgeous light colored interior.
It is ONLY for the sills & carpeted mats. Not seats or vinyl in our cars. You can use it on the carpets too, but to avoid changing the look of the nap, I sprayed it on the carpet in the rear foot well/door area & rubbed it in with my bare hands.
An amazing product. Don't hesitate to try it! I have bottles of it on hand for "Old Swampy", as my wife is known by my "kids", for leaving the floor of any car looking like New Orleans after the storm.

I ordered it a week ago, and then Amazon sends me a message it's no longer available. I checked 2 other online stores and they said same thing.

I couldn't find it either locally. Pepboys does have the aeresol version, so I'll try that. Figure I can spray it onto a rag and then wipe.

Aerosol Version is around, I don't like the scrub brush top. I gently massage with a white terry cloth rag/ car towel. Still a great product. See it here: http://www.bluecoral.com/INTERproducts.asp?page=1_1
