After Build - When Will You Get It?
their car is built, in the next day or two, it will be on the boat to them.
My salesman says: “Hold On!”
1. If there is high unsold inventory of 350s (for example) they will hold all
new 350’s until that inventory is down to a certain level.
2. If in a region where there are 6 dealers (for example) ALL 6 must have
their inventory reduced to a certain level.
3. All dealers (in that region at least) will get delivery of 08’s at the same
time. (Ft. Lauderdale will not get 20 new 08’s and Palm Beach none, etc.)
4. Pre-sold cars get “some” preference. (But, maybe meant in production
order.)
So - after we’ve crossed the production threshold there’s other criteria to
be met. If any of you know anything differently I’d love to hear it. (Barry
insisted that I watch more TV. I tried watching the Speed channel, Barry.
Now my foot won’t stop tapping!)

The leftovers will sell. There are always people looking for a good car at a reduced price. Especially, those than don't want heavilly loaded cars. (If you wanted a lightly equipped car, you would have had no problem finding an '07, but you wanted what YOU wanted.)
Your car is coming. every year they go thru this same clear out the **** on the lot bull. Theyre always gone, and the new ones come out.
I waited 4 months, 10 days for mine. (To get a build allocation for the dealer & then a date on the line & then the normal shipping time).
You're tying your shorts up in a knot for nothing! Its not like you are driving a 1996 Chevy Corsica with 105K miles on the clock, like I was, in between getting out of my '04 & into my '07!
2 Weeks after you get it & post pics here, its just gonna be a car. Try to hang in there Jim. No one feels for you like me, I did the Caddy thing too.
THE CAR IS COMING TO YOUR DRIVEWAY in the 6th week after your build decade date. Believe me. They make money delivering cars, not building them.
Now go watch "Deadliest Catch" on TV. .. Your salesman says "Hold On" because he wants a chance to meet new people and sell THEM a car too. He needs a little separation. LOL Don't let this wait kill you!

I have not spoken to him since. He did answer an email saying that
“if he heard about any new changes he’d let me know.”
I would never do anything to make him believe that I am anxious ..
as there may still be some negotiation involved at delivery.
I have ordered only one other car in my life. My 06 vette. Over the
phone bought a first week of production one from Ohio dealer, with
direct Courtesy Delivery to local Chevy dealer.
I will never order another car! If I am still here 1-2 years from now
I will visit 3 - 4 dealers of “some” make .. make a deal and drive it
home. Shameless as it is .. just put me in the “instant gratification”
category!

Your car is I recall scheduled for production during the 2nd decade, which is next week. Following completion of production, your car is then put on a train for Bremerhaven to await a transport ship, likely in your case, for Baltimore.
It is true that "sold" cars are given preference during the delivery system.
I would bet that your car will arrive during the 3rd or 4th week of July.
MB USA is not going to hold up your car in order to clear out 07s. There aren't that many left to clearout AND they want your $$$$ ASAP. Typically, manufacturers only hold up new product when there is a distinct changeover from one generation to another. This is not the case with the 2008 W211. Two years from now, when the W212 arrives, yes there might be holdbacks to clear out inventory.
Hang in there; the wait for your beautiful black E350 will be worth it !
What do the experts think? Delivery?

Checked with the dealer today. The boat will dock on 6/20 at Baltimore; it will probably take a couple of days after that to clear I imagine. Would be great if I can get it that weekend.
Now I am getting a wee bit excited.

Hope you get your car before the month end.
Just found out that mine is waiting in Bremerhaven for the next ship to Halifax.
Jimm's car should be a week behind mine.
It looks like my car will be on the Manon departing Bremerhaven 22-June and arriving Port Hueneme, CA on 16-July. It should transit the Canal on 7-June.
I still don't know if my car will be built in the first or second decade but it doesn't matter much since the Manon is the first ship departing for the west coast.

As for tracking ships, go here http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/ and choose Search by Ports. Choose Germany to USA or Canada, then choose Bremerhaven to the port you expect your car to arrive at and finally plug in a range of dates and you will see the ships that are arriving in that time frame at the port you are interested in.
Do you know how to use the VIN to track one's car aboard ship crossing the Atlantic ?
I do know that once cars are off-loaded in Halifax, it is possible for the dealer to track a car via CN Rail right across Canada.
Cars bound for the west coast are usually built during the first decade of the month, giving them a head start as it were, so as to more or less equalize the ETA on both east and west coasts.

The Atlantic Cartier goes from Bremerhaven (10-June), to Gothenburg (12-June), to Antwerp (15-June), to Liverpool (17-June), to Halifax (24-June), to New York (26-June), to Baltimore (28-June) and then to Portsmouth (29-June).
I also think there is a way to actually see your ships progression across the Atlantic by using it's call sign but I've forgotten how to do it. Maybe this will work. http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SCKB

BTW, I don't know where I got a departure date of 10-June from. Must have been a Senior moment. I'm having a lot of them recently.

After the 11th, try plugging your VIN number in here to see if it works.
