hello

my rear window defroster tops 5 or 6 lines does not seem to work when defogging/defrosting the rear window. i brought it to dealer and they tested mine and another e350
2006 and said that one does the same thing. they concluded that thats the way it is. i would like to get some confirmation if this is true

Aren't the top few lines (separate from the others) the Radio antenna?

it might be, just that ive never seen a defogger not working all the way to the top before

Correct! The upper visible wires are not heating wires but rather antenna wires, due to the design of the system and are not considered a malfunction. It amazes me that the dealer had to compare your vehicle to another and did not provide an adequate explanation instead of providing Walter Cronkite “That’s the way it is” shtick.

The temperature & distribution are sufficient to clear the whole window.

Bumping this because my 08 has the same thing going on - the top five or so lines do not defog the rear window. Can someone please confirm this???? TIA

Check your manual – “Rear window heating”
