Exclamation Wash Me

I am looking to do a good 'ol driveway hand wash, interior detail, and wax. I haven't done this on my own for awhile. I have gotten lazy lately, and have been paying for it to be done. I've lost my touch as far as what products are being used these days.

For all of you 'by hand only' guys, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS?

Soap:
Wax:
Interior carpet/upholstery cleaner:
Wheel Cleaner:
Tire Shine:
Leather Cleaner:

I will take your advice and use your recommendations!

Make sure you clay bar the car after you wash it, and before you polish/wax it. It's super simple, even for a first timer, and it's one of the most important steps in detailing your car.

basically do this, and keep in mind I'm no professional:

1. Wash
2. Clay bar
3. Wash
4. Polish
5. Wash
6. Wax
7. Wax

You can omit the polishing step if you use an all in one product like Meguiar's NXT wax.

You can also do alot, LOT more but for the non-pro this should do fine. This is what I do to my cars, every 3-4 months or so.

You know how if you run our hand along the hood of your car and you feel little contaminants? Like little tiny peices of sand embedded in your paint, even after you've washed it? If you've never tried, do it, you'll see what I'm talking about. Well, claying your car gets rid of all of those little contaminants. It's seriously one of the easiest things you can do to your car. Basically, you take a spray lubricant like detailing spray, and spray a small section of your car. You also spray the clay. You simply just run it back and forth over your car, section by section.

Here's a little howto:

I use Zaino for the wax and wash. It is by far the best product I have ever used, although it does require more work. You have to mix the product before using it. It is not a wax, I'm not sure about the composition, but it is some form of polimer compound that bonds with the paint. It usually lasts a little over a year (that's when a vehicle stops forming those thick droplets after getting wet). I usually don't let it go that long, but my wifes truck only gets it annually.

Definately clay the car, it is easy and makes a huge difference. I also use Dawn liquid soap the first time to remove all old wax before applying the Zaino.

So I went out to the Harley Store and bought myself S100 Wax. Its typically used for bikes, but I hear it works miracles on black cars.

Has anyone ever tried this product?

Zaino is an amazing product. People walk up to me in parking lots to ask about the shine on my car. It isn't that difficult to use. You can order product online and it is well worth the (small) extra price.
