Post As Per the "Stealer": Lease Program Changes

I don't know if you all have taken a look at the current rates offered through MB Financial, but as of June 5th it went from .0017 to the following:

2008 Mercedes E350 Sedan
24 Month – Residual 67% of MSRP – .00405 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 55% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 47% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 42% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate

2008 Mercedes E550 Sedan
24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00405 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 52% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 45% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 40% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate

You may know that I have been in the market for an 2007 E350. Well today I went to pick it up. They had the one I wanted (white on black, P02, 333, Sport, Bluetooth, wood steering wheel, rear seat fold)... I had to drive to a dealer that was not local, as my local dealer was unwilling to do a trade.

Furthermore, my local dealer, (though I had given them a deposit) NEVER locked in my rates, thus I am forced into the new rates. Because I caused a "scene" (I think this was called for), the "stealer" caved in and told me that Merc Financial is dropping the above rates as of July 15h.

I had confirmation of this, through a very reliable resource. So in short, yes by then, I am sure all if not most of the E350's will be sold. Those of us who are going to wait, will have to settle for the $800 more 2008 model. Bright side... we get the 2008 model (which comes with its own bragging rights, probably updated electronics/ nav).

Suffice to say, alas I am going to wait a few more weeks.

Did your DEALER tell you these would be upgraded?

That’s the first any of us have heard about upgrades.

And .. are you saying that on July 15 lease rates will
go down?

The key word here is "probably", which is probably wishful thinking.

As for the upgrades, the dealer told me today, that the 2008 E nav is more detailed pending your geographic location and/or area of travel. I live in Southern Cali, so no change for us. But I assume it means those who live in rural parts will see the difference.

As for the rates, I was pretty baffled myself when the dealer broke down and admitted this. I have called around to two other dealers and it has been confirmed.

Yes, as of July 15, 2007 MB Finance will "change" their lease programs. Though how much that change will be, remains to be a mystery. My sources, tells me MB has received negative feedback and are thus responding by changing their rates.

Thanks goto. Very helpful. And - just of today (July 10) the
Build Your Own thing is back up. If you calculate your lease
payment Today - compared to a month ago - the payments
are WAY higher. Like they’ve lost their mind!

Since my car should be ready this week, and July 15 is Sun
I certainly will ask my dealer about this!

Another dealer I have been in contact with, just called to tell me that they are confirming Merc's new rate changes for the 15th of July.

So hang in there and we'll all see what MBUSA has in store for us.
