seems to work perfect.

Jimm, this used to be called speed sensitive volume control. I don't like the way it works on my old 300E but the new models seem to work seamlessly. I know that the S-Class started using the microphone to sense the actual noise and adjust the volume to compensate. The new E-Class may do it as well.

My car went through Customs on Monday. I'm expecting a call any time now

http://www.essex.com/assessmentguide.

Low and behold, you're absolutely right YM !!
Not only does it list Town of, but also Essex,CT (the "," being the key apparently)

AND...it lists a total of 23 Essex's including some counties (as CO). Unbelievable.
Plus I didn't even need the 3rd beer.
Thanks for the info as I'm sure this will happen with other locations as well.

After 900 miles .. a few more thoughts:

Another LIKE: A really short turning radius! VERY useful.

A “repeat” LIKE: The Bluetooth and Voice combo. It is Sooo GREAT!
I called my properties maintenance man “Daniel” today who I usually
have a hard time understanding on my cell. (A little accent there.)

All I did was just click the Voice lever and said “call Daniel.” The Voice
said alright and in a second Daniel was on the line! WOW! I have NO IDEA
how that - or “any other” technology is done - but, that’s the kind of
thing I LOVE!

His voice was clear as anything! And all hands free and I didn’t even have
to dial. That’s all duck soup to you tech experts but for a dummy like me
it’s impressive as hell! (Daniel, of course, is in my cell phone list.)

Now, a couple of little DISLIKES:

1. Radio should have a mute on the steering wheel. (To mute commercials
or for conversation, or other.) Yes, you can turn the radio off for a few
minutes. But then you lose your cell phone connection.

2. A/C temp control should be digital. Like on the E-550. No two degree
increment, knob turning jumps. And, you should be able to shut off the
individual control on the right when there’s no passenger, so you don’t have
to keep adjusting TWO sides. With GM when you shut off the right control,
then the temp you set for the left is the temp that comes out both sides.

For some reason, I seem to do quite a bit of a/c “tweaking” as I travel.
Having to keep “tweaking” two is a nuisance. (A little bit.)

Love the car. (New wood/leather steering wheel is in at dealers.)

Just takes a little time to learn the MB nav, it is after all engineered for a world wide market. It is all about the spelling, legal names and punctuation that list feature helps in that regard.

Frustration is the biggest problem with the MB nav, and the easiest to fix.

I totally LOVE my E-350! But, I can’t believe that MB would think that people
who can afford a MB would be happy with a piece-of-crap Nav like this!

Jimm,
I have spent many years plying the ICW and have spent many a night at the Australian docks. During my visits I do enjoy a walk that usually takes me from the docks over to Royal Palm Way east to South County Road then south to Worth Ave and a nice drink at Amoroso's Garden Cafe. Is the County road you are referring to the continuation of South County Road, going north by the Breakers?

Yes.

But - the official names are North County Road and South County Road.
I know there would be a tendency to think it’s “County Road North” etc.

Therefore North and South are a part of this Palm Beach Road’s names.

Come back often!!

Thanks for the hospitality and invite.

I took a look at my Nav (2006.1, yours should be newer 2006.2) and tried to see if North County Road in Palm Beach FL showed up on my Nav. I first went to enter destination and keyed in Palm Beach FL.
-dcp40471.jpg
Then I tried to key in just County Road then hit the list button and found County Road N, I have found that using the list feature improves the accuracy and speed of entering addresses, My wife only enters the first three letters and then hits the list button and can enter an address in less than 15 seconds.
-dcp40472.jpg
Sorry about the poor pic quality but you should be able to see the street names.
-dcp40474.jpg
I did not enter any street number, but I did look at the POI restaurants in this area and found Chez Jean-Pierre Bistro, oddly on N County Road.
-dcp40476.jpg
Like anything just takes some time and effort to become proficient, the MB Nav is really quite good.

Often times the name of a place/street is different on the list from the map. But list is a faster way to find a street then typing the name in fully... not just for street names but for cities too.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I really appreciate it. As I've
expressed - too many times - the Nav is VERY important to me.

(For what it’s worth - the location I was trying to key in was the
Beach Club at 755 North County Road - where my “catastrophe”
was.)

I have NO DOUBT that 99% of my Nav difficulties are ME! So, I
will be following all of your advice, and referring to the manual
till I get it licked!

jimm, while I've been complaining your dislikes, you soon seem to have more likes and less dislikes than I have

A question about the A/C, shouldn't the face lift car have a similar A/C control unit as the 4-zone on the pre-face lift model. Like in the attached figure from the German price list? Temp adjustments should be controlled by the button with red and blue arrows?

People have different preferences but I guess it may also be the climate, or is it that the 4-zone system has better sensors, I hardly ever touch the A/C settings.

The mute button on the steering wheel must come with W212 as it already is on the W221. On the option to adjust temperature for both sides at once, the 4-zone used to be worse than your car, you had to change it separately on all four zones. Think of kids playing at the back, and you don't even see the rear settings by default. Again, the W221 has an option to force both/all settings change together.

Per your attached pic above, the 07s don't even show that fan speed bar graph when in "auto". Only if you override the auto setting & increase or decrease the blower speed is the graph shown.

On your advice, I went out and tried the LIST feature! WOW!
That works GREAT! (I hadn’t even gotten to exploring “LIST”
yet.) Maybe never would have.

And you are so right, about how helpful it is to just type in 2
or 3 letters then go to “List.”

Using “List” I DID find County Road, No. as Barry suggested.
And it was so easy.

OK, the booklet must have used old photos. This one actually had the "front/rear" button, must be the pre-face-lift 4-zone unit, looks familiar anyway.

I had the impression that one of the face lift changes was the "digital AC control unit". The two attached are from the current manual, the Thermatic really doesn't look too "digital", I can understand jimm's comments now.
