Valentine-One Radar Install

I’ve had V1’s for years now in every car and love them. (The ones
with the arrows that show cops from the front, back and side.)

While V1’s come with a cigar lighter attachment, I always get mine
hard wired so when I shut the ignition off, they turn off.

The one in my Vette is mounted under the mirror. My last DTS it
was velcroed to the back of my dash but where I could reach it. I
had the wire coming up from under the dash, in the back, where it
was unnoticable. That’s what I'm getting done to my E-350 this week.
(I kept the V1 when I sold my DTS.)

But a question: I know that a simple telephone wire plugs into the
V1. But, does the other end that goes to the hot connection have a
“box” of some kind, like a little transformer? Or can that phone line
just be cut and attached directly to a hot line?

I can’t remember. If I got a little “box” with it, I can’t find it.

Thanks for your advice.

Be sure you use phone line with 4 wires, not 2 wires like you usually find for sale. You should be able to wire from the cut end although the wires are small. I'm not sure which two are power and ground. If you want, you can get a new "box" from Valentine for $13. You get a fuse this way too.
