I lost the ability to enter a destination while driving. all what i can do while driving is either to enter destination from the memory or POI in [U]the current location [U]only.
as you can see in the picture below, it highlights Aaronsburg, PA and you cann't select another city unless you want to use the list option (which will take you forever to get to Washington, DC for example) or you have to stop the car.
the only positive thing about the update is I got the ETA at the bottom of the display.

 

Would be possible to change with DAS, if your dealer is willing to do it. Not sure if it is legal in the US, at least the W221 I've heard is like this in the US but not in Europe.

 

this update sux. I am not gonna even try to do it.

 

I dissagree. It works great in my car and I have all the functionality I had before + the ETA info. However, I didn’t go the upgrade myself but had the dealer do it. They did it under warranty and I don’t know if that makes a difference as to the ability to enter dist while driving.

My suggestion is to take the car to the dealer and have them do it under warranty or pay the $40 it would cost in tech time.

As for MOZART I suggest that you take the car to the dealer and have them correct the issue through DAS. There was another board member that had the same problem and he got it corrected at the dealer so it is possible.

 

I also will not try due to the fact I have a Euro comand and not a US comand. And in EVERY case I have heard, euros will disable entering a dest. while in motion. Not to mention I could lose my video in motion.

 

I don't get the big deal over ETA it is only 2 pushes on the upper left button to have it displayed. I would not trade the ability to enter a destination while driving for ETA displayed in place of my Sat signal data, which is more important anyway.

 

Someone who knows what they are doing can fix all that.

 

Did you try the setting in engineering mode with the hidden menu's?

 

Why is the number of Satellites seeing you important at all? If the NAV says "turn right, now" and the street is there, (or your location on the map is accurate) you are being seen by enough birds for the system to be accurate, whether its 3 or 8 birds.

Its no big deal, but the less button pushing & screen reading while underway, is much safer for you, your car & others.

I for one, don't understand why there isnt a digital clock also on the bottom of the Comand display for passengers to see all the time, with all the unused screen acreage there.

 

Very strange Mozart....are we safe in assuming that your command is U.S. AND that the dealer did the upgrade?

I did the update myself and did NOT lose the destination entry function, as other members posted in Konigstiger's original thread.

 

I did the update and no problem at all. I can enter the address while in motion. I updated the comand bc I like to keep my software current.

 

I guess I will take it back to the dealer and see if they can fix it since they did the update.
by the way last time I was at the dealer I got to test drive the new C-calss, and that thing is great, the command is very user friendly and the Nav compared to the one we have is like day and night, it is very clear and yes it has 3D view. I can't wait till the new E is out.

 

My dealer told me that Harman/Becker is developing a new software version for the W211 COMAND which is likely to include 3D view for the NAV and MAP screen (like in the new C and S) but they couldn't tell me when it would be available. They told me that it's a software update for the headunit and it has nothing to do with the MAP DVD in the trunk. Does anybody know when this new software will be out?

 

Speaking of destinations .. a question please:

The other day I was in Ft. Pierce and wanted to go to Okeechobee a
small town on the north end of the Lake.

Didn’t want to go to a specific address, just the town. Living in South
Florida for about 50 years I basically know how to go to most towns.

But - I was in the middle of Ft. Pierce and I couldn’t remember if the
route to Okeechobee was north or south of me. So, I thought I'd just
type in the “town only” and have it start guidance. But, it wanted the
street first.

So how do I bypass street and go directly to start guidance? Thanks.

Yep, add me to the list of the ones that can't input destinations while in motion. I'll talk to my SA this week and see what we can do. I've got a pretty good relationship with them so if it can be fixed, they'll do it for me. I'll report back.

 

YEAP me too.

I can only use the list buttons. the letters and numbers keys are greyed out when the car is moving. but I could load an address using the addresses that are already in memory...

the update didn't brake the Nav. it just made it safer.... I could still enter address in motion via recent or saved address. my Chrysler Nav was like this. all so I notice that if I'm talking on the car phone while use the Nav, the Nav will not say the direction out loud. I guess people thought it was rood

 

I updated my MY04 e320 and had no issues whatsoever-- I can enter destinations while driving and have access to the "new and improved" features that the software was supposed to add. I gave the disk to my friend who has a MY04 E500 and after the update, he experienced the same thing as the post above-- stuck in Aaronsburg when driving, unable to change anything. I'd appreciate if/how anyone had the fix. My friend is about to wring my neck!!!

Hi there i am new here in this forum and i have a problem with my euro unit and i made update from eu version 15/2004 (v9.390) to an us version 46/2006 (v22.100) and now my all unit is messed up after update is unable to enter the second secret menu to flash this new version and install old one after all possible secret codes discussed on forums. any help plz
