Maintenance cost

My 2006 E500 is due for its first service (13,000 miles). How much should I expect to pay? Do I have to have the service done at my dealer? We have a VERY reputable independent Mercedes shop nearby and I suspect their charges are much more reasonable.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It all depends on what is getting done. at my dealer the A service is about 500 and B service is about 800 and thats just for oil and filters. if you now a good indy shop that u trust go for it. But remember when the dealer is to in the service, they also check stuff for preventive maintenance so if something is not right the dealer will fit it under warranty.

Also if you are every planning to sell your car the dealer will have all the service records so your car may be more valuable.

Personally with a car that new, in warranty I would go to the dealer. The first A service will be about 275 to 300 bucks and when you figure the cost per mile based on 13000 miles its peanuts. The dealer should also check on TSBs that need to be complied with and should interrogate the computer for any faults and correct them. Most independents usually do not do either.

I just put my car in for a 26,000 mile service. It was free under warranty, how come you are being charged?

Free under warranty? I wasn't aware of this.....does it apply to all 2006 E class models? Does it only apply at certain dealerships?
