Do the 2008 E's non AMG with AMG kit, have the logo?

Smile Do the 2008 E's non AMG with AMG kit, have the logo?
just wondering, saw a pic of a E500 with the AMG kit on it, and is said AMG on the back bumper...

Go to ebay...anyone can get the AMG logo for a couple of bucks. More likely the owner did that or even asked the dealer to add the AMG logo @ PDI (pre-delivery inspection).

I hear it adds about 200 hp when you stick it on...

lol, im asking b/c theres a guy on the last pages of the pics thread that took pics of his car at the dealers before pick up, and it has the AMG logo.. here take a look

He (the owner) had them added @ PDI. With my car, I had them install my flat hood emblem and CL style grill @ PDI.

Actually, MB used to put AMG logos on the cars w/ the AMG sports package. They do not do this any longer. So if you see a car w/ it, thats clearly not an AMG car, its often not the owners fault, although I would obviously take it off, but most people don't even know what AMG is or care.

I don't think that it is general MB dealership protocol, but I wouldn't put it past some salespersons to lead an unknowing and/or superficial wannabe getting led down that path...

I've seen this very frequently here in SoCal many years ago. They haven't done it lately here. Honestly, I think it was straight from the factory that way because it was way too often for everyone to be doing it especially people around here that didn't even know what AMG is or was.

Actually, that is not true! Mercedes never never put an AMG badge on the trunk of any non AMG car from the factory. You may have seen a badge put on the trunk by a stateside dealer like that pic above.

It was all dealer done, Mercedes has never done this from the factory according to the dealer here.

It was the dealers that did this. MBUSA never did this at the VPC.

I stand corrected. I would assume its illegal to put a trademarked logo on a car that didn't originally have it. I'm surprised MB allowed it.

Just picked up '08 e550 with AMG kit.

No AMG badge. Only external "AMG" that I can see is on the wheels and exhaust tips.

Well you know MBUSA has very little if any control over what a dealer sticks on a car. They probably wouldn't allow it if they had a say so, but they really don't have any.

I totally disagree with you guys. If you have AMG wheels, or AMG exhaust tips, or even the AMG Sports Package, you can get away with putting on a AMG badge. It's not tacky at all...

What is tacky is if you change a E350 emblem to a E63 emblem and THEN adding the AMG badge to pull off you have a true AMG vehicle.

But adding a AMG badge to a non-AMG vehicle is fine...

For instance, the E350 Winter Edition had AMG wheels and exhaust tips, but not a true AMG vehicle. So its a crime to have those wheels and exhaust tips on? C'mon...

...but an AMG configuration isn't aesthetics...it's an AMG tuned engine, suspension, braking, and ECU software tuning.

If you have all the AMG aesthetics, you are better off not badging it at all.

Think of it this way: On a contract or something of that sort, the AMG exhausts and wheels would equate to the type of paper it's written on. It may have the company logo watermarked on the background. Great, all they do is make it look pretty. The AMG badge would be the equivalent of the writing on the piece of paper.

See if you can figure out the rest from there...
