I just got a Euro COMAND model 7023 (production 2006). After installing it into my 2003 E500 I was surprised to find out that it didn't play DVDs. Every other function works perfectly but once I insert a DVD a warning screen comes up that the video would fade as soon as my car moved and then it shows a screen with the word MENU in the middle. I can hear the soundtrack but there is no video on the screen.

I've tried to set the car in park, pressed emergency brake on, moved the car at slow speed, but nothing worked -- I still couldn't get video on the screen.

To make matters worse -- I cannot get into Engineering Mode on this particular unit. None of the tricks worked although the 3-5-7 trick gave me option to boot the unit into different W211 configuration. But my favorite loophole SERV+Mute+Phone Down didn't produce any results.

Question 1: This unit has TV capability. Would anyone know if I must have a TV tuner in order to view movies?

Question 2: Has anyone figured out how to get into Engineering Mode on 2006 7023 unit?

IT WORKS!!! The video came on this morning. I think the system had to re-set itself and now everything is functional.

Now, here is another puzzle. The video only plays when the car is in PARK with the emergency break ON. Has anyone figured out how to get into Engineering Menu on 7023 (2006 production year)?

I dont think it is possible. Those units were either locked already by the factory or the previous owner ran the update CD..and locked it.....but wish someone prove me wrong...

You should be able to enable video up to slow motion, obviously then parking brake or P would not need to be engaged. Current DAS (Euro at least) should allow this.

Enabling video at any speed may not be wise and would need a different approach.

Sorry for a silly question but what is DAS?

Diagnostics Assistance System, basically the computer (or the sw on the SDS computer) that the dealer service uses to diagnose and adjust the car in different ways.
