Windshield Wipers
Windshield Wipers
Earliar this morning there was some mist/fog on the windshield, as i started the car i pressed on the wiper button but they wouldnt work, my washer fluid is empty but i dont think that could be the reason for them to not work at all.
i filled the washer fluid with a bit of water just to try it out and still the wipers didnt work, any advice?
thanks in advance

My W211 is older and the windshield wiper switch (I assume) has started misbehaving randomly. It isn't completely dead, the first position mainly stops working sometimes. Usually pressing washer makes it wake up.
Anybody else had a similar issue?

Long time since the last post but I would be curious to know what was the issue with your car?

Not sure who TECHNICIAN asked but certainly doors and the hood were closed. But one thing to think of for sure if any of the sensors were working poorly and indicating "door open" or so. Then again, I guess the cabin light and IC warning should appear?
If I figured this right, the steering wheel stalk is read by the steering wheel control unit and the switch positions are signaled through CAN to the front left SAM which actually powers the windshield wiper motor. As long as some switch positions (like the washer) work, it looks to me like the stalk switches had problems.
