I have been told by my dealer that it can't be done. However you can fasten your belt accross the seat before you get in and sit on it and that will stop the noise.

When did this start because my 2003 doesn't do it. I was actually wondering why it doesn't make any noise when I don't wear my seatbelt.

When shooting a person exiting a car, I put the metal tip from an old seatbelt in the catch. Keeps the scene shorter and does not risk spoiling costumes or make-up fumbling with the belt. Stops the dinger too!

Seat Belts
When I was a paramedic I hardly ever had to transport anyone from an accident who was wearing their seatbelt. Can't say the same of those who didn't. Let 100 years of Mercedes engineering do its job - wear the seatbelt.

One of the best comments promoting the use of seat belts without even mentioning it.
Safety is very important for MB design, it is built on safety belts being used. I used to think US drivers would not want to wear the seat belt but I have learned the majority actually does wear it. I'm glad I used to be wrong.

The following link shows that the US overall has an 81% use rate of seat belts and that it is near 90% in the western US. Americans are slowing learning a few good driving habits but IMO still lag Europe due to the lax standards for driving education and obtaining a license.

A friend of mines daughter was hurt in a car accident in Mexico a few years back. She was in the back seat and had on her seatbelt. After the crash 2 of the 4 people in the car were dead. The 2 survivors were the ones wearing seatbelts.
Now, when he is driving he will not even start the car until everybody has put on their seatbelt. I thought at the time it was a bit of an over-reaction. But you know, it's not a bad idea??

People should not feel bad asking their passengers to buckle up. If for no other reason than a selfish one, you don't want a 200 lb. passenger flying around in the car when you are trying to regain control or strike an object.
