finalizing my order
Guys,
I'm getting close to putting in my order. I am trying to finalize between plat blue/ash or pewter/charcoal. Wow and cthouey, can you guys post more pics since I believe these are your colors.
Finally, I would like to know if anyone in Texas has gotten more than $500 off MSRP for a new E500 (or E320). That's the best I have managed to get, but I keep hearing stories like wow's where he got almost $3K off. I want to make sure that I'm not getting taken by my dealer and that his pricing is consistent for Texas.
One note, in the last week or so, the dealer seems to have gotten a lot of cars, he has at least 7 E's that I saw the other day. Normally, if they were pre-sold, they don't let you sit in them, but this was not the case for 6 or 7 cars, so I have a feeling that maybe the dealers are discounting, and I am wondering if I need to take another shot at the dealer before finalizing.

Try having them throw in an option or two for free; it still saves you money. Also, they will be much more willing to deal on a car that is unsold and on the lot. It costs them money to keep it there.

Against my better judgement, I'll post some pictures. I see all these beautiful Zaino'ed cars in California paradise, and here I'm gonna post pictures of a poor car that been driven through 7 days of rain and mud! But, it's not going to quit raining for another few days, so here I go...
You can't really get the feel for Pewter through pictures. The subtle color in the metallic paint really shows up better with a good polish and sunshine (at least, I think it will). Pewter can look almost a funky brown in the right (or wrong?) light.
I drove around (my place has a lot of trees) and looked for a peek of sunshine. I couldn't find any. I finally stopped at a fairly empty medical center parking lot at took some shots.
I am posting 4 shots -- 2 exterior and 2 interior. The latter are primarily to show 2 things: (1) the narrow clearance putting in CDs while in Park (they look like they need an angle, but actually you can insert them level) and (2) to show the wood at the rear of the shifter when you order Keyless Go.

The pewter car looks great. Trouble (or not) is that so many of the color combinations look great. The pewter is also kind of new. I just picked up my Platinum Blue/Ash E320 and it looks fantastic - the dealer has only had a few in that color, all pre-orders, and apparently they always draw tons of attention and compliments. Looks kind of fresh to me. Both should hold up well as far a dirt is concerned. Part of it depends on what you've been driving. I was looking for a change from my last few cars.
