You need to stay off the pipe! Glad to hear no one was injured. Now then, when you say the brakes did not slow the car down are you implying that the SBC failed. I remember you had mentioned that the dealer performed service not too long before did it include any brake service?

In the end, it's just a car. If you're insurance can get it fixed, great. If not, no sweat. Revel in the fact that you were both able to walk away.

I hate reading threads that mention failing brakes. It could happen to anyone of us without warning. luckily you weren't driving in the freeway and had to slow down quickly. Now I always panic when I have to use my brakes and always prepared to step on the parking brake. Sucks.

I was going slow about 5 to 10mph. I was slowing down and I press on something.... it like the car jerked forward as i was pulling to a parking lot.

If the SBC hydraulic back up mode triggered, greater pedal pressure would be required to stop and the brake pedal travel will be noticeably longer. Is this what you experienced?

just before the crash i heard a sound it was like errrrrrrrr almost luck a pumping sound. the airbag blew but did not deploy. it smell like gun power. I'm thankful it was not on the highway, bc at those speeds I would really need the air bags.

Having the airbags fail to deploy sounds to me as if it would be a big problem for MB. A while back someone reported a crash in which the bags did not deploy, and I think MB came out to look at the car. What do you mean when you say the bags blew, but did not deploy? They never expanded beyond their enclosures?

Did it sound anything like the normal SBC “buzzing type noise” made during pressure buildup? I am trying to determine if you had an SBC failure. As another member questioned, were there any warnings in the MFD? Furthermore, you say the air bags activated however did not fully deploy. I am trying to establish if you should contact MBUSA, not the dealership, to determine the cause of the malfunction along with your insurance company.

Why do people want to see pics of someone elses misfortune? I find it disturbing. This isn't a safety testimonial where he says he walked away from a 100mph crash. Sheesh.

its one thing if the airbags did not trigger. then maybe the crash was not hard enough. my consern is that they just fix the steering wheel and leave the airbags.. However I want to contact Mbusa bc it look like that system did not work as intended. its almost a good thing that this happen this way, bc I have been driving at brake neck speeds and if i would have crash on the expressway are something I would have been screwed. My wife need the airbags more than me. since my hands was on the steering wheel I just pushed the column back. however my wife hit her head on the dash.
