See the car manual:
http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...0001.0002.html
Note the car height figures, the body is the same, the difference in height shows the suspension setup. Note the difference between sedan and wagon and also the difference of Airmatic equipped cars (the figures are for standard Euro cars).

All 4matics sit higher regardless of their base suspension setup. AMG Sport, 333 Sport, all of them do. If it has 4matic it sits higher to clear the extra hardware. Check a dealers stock if you don't believe it.

Just wanted to comment that I find this a fair question. One can find accurate data for the basic suspension, Airmatic and basic 4-Matic, I believe even the "basic sports setup" for RWD cars. One could assume the AMG being the same as the sports suspension, but this should be confirmed with an accurate reference to figures. The ride hight change on a 4-Matic seems completely undocumented. MB service documents cover basic car dimensions but I was not able to find any data on the AMG suspension. The same with car manuals.

I don't get why you guys just don't go to your local dealer and look around. You will clearly see that any 4Matic car sits higher. There is nothing online (that I've seen) that will give you the ride height specs for each possible suspension/drivetrain combination. The difference is only noticeable to a very keen eyed person. Just guess I'd say anywhere from an inch to a 1/2 inch difference over a standard E.

I'm in the opposite position from most people in the forum. I'm actually looking for a W211 wagon that sits HIGHER than the standard ones. My driveway sits at an abnormally steep angle. Our '04 E320 clears the driveway without scraping... but barely. Our W208 CLK Cabriolet also clears the driveway... just barely.
This morning, the MBZ dealership brought by an '04 E320 Wagon standard. We got most of the car to clear, except the last foot or so. The gas tank simply scraped its way across the sidewalk, it was a horrible sound! I measured the clearance in both the front and rear of standard wagon to use as reference and a baseline. Tonight I'll measure the clearance on our E320 sedan that clears. So tomorrow, we're driving 2 hours to look at an '04 E320 4Matic. With those measurements, I'm hoping that the extra inch clearance of the 4Matic is enough to clear the driveway. If it's less than an inch, I'm back to the drawing board.
Anybody have an early W211 4Matic Wagon they can measure for me? Anybody in Los Angeles with a 4Matic Wagon that they can stop by my house? Final question, and this is coming from a 4Matic newbie, do all 4Matics have Airmatic as well or is that an additional feature? If so, does the Airmatic further raise the ride height?

06 S211 E500 4Matic
I don't have the numbers, but I never had problems clearing anything. Yes, Airmatic is part of the 4Matic system IIRC and yes, Airmatic does raise the car quite a bit. Again, don't have numbers but if I were to guess, I'd say the UP position gives you extra 1.5-2in of clearance.

2004 E320 4matic Sedan
All 4Matic sedans do NOT have air suspension....
I have an E320 4Matic sedan, 2004 model year. It has conventional suspension only. No air.
Some E320 sedans have air suspension, purchased as an option.
E500's do have air suspension. Probably always.
Wagons often have air suspension of some kind, or at least a ride leveling capability.
Bottom line is, do not assume that a 6 cylinder 4Matic has air suspension.

Here are the height specifications from the 2007 owner's manual. In general, 4matic cars are about 0.5" higher than their non-4matic counterparts. Airmatic cars have a "raised" position which adds another 0.8" over normal ride height.
It appears that a V6 4matic without Airmatic would have the most ground clearance. An E550 4matic in the raised position would be in second place.
E320: 58.4"
E350: 58.5"
E350 4matic: 59.1"
E550 Airmatic: 57.7"
E550 4matic Airmatic: 58.1"
E63: 57.7"
Airmatic "raised" position: +0.8"
