When I first bought my car I intended on taking off the stock star. After two days of driving I loved having it there. First it looks great and does give that superficial 'I'm driving a Benz' feeling as you see it on the hood. It also proves quite useful in gauging the front of the vehicle when parking etc. I think it adds an element of class to the vehicle.

Me too. Funny thing when I got mine It reminded me of the crosshairs on a fighter plane (video games) and I thought it was cool. Great idea with using it as a "parking gauge". My previous car had parking assist (the new one doesn't) and I give myself 3 weeks before I curse up a storm because I hit something.

All that you’ve said above is EACTLY right!

I would not have bought my E-350 if it wouldn’t have had it. And if the
2110’s don’t have it as standard, I will not even consider another MB.
There is no ego satisfaction in driving a MB without that nose star!

Very much a matter of personal preference, as you can see.

I replaced the stand-up emblem with a flat badge shortly after I got the car for two reasons:

1. I found that having the stand-up emblem in my field of vision while driving was distracting, not helpful.

2. The W211 is sleek and hunkered-down, in my opinion, and the stand-up badge is a throwback to earlier, more upright, M-Bs. I don't think it's a good visual fit for the W211.

Again, though, the choice is yours. If you're unsure, try a flat hood badge for a while. If you don't like it, you can always get the upright emblem, and you won't be out much money for the flat badge.

Literally, it takes about 1 minute to change out the OEM star with the DFWDude white star flat badge. It twists in just like the original star.
