Exclamation 2008 350 amg vs 2007 e350sport. myamg suspention is worse or maybe defective

hey I just got my 2008 e350 amg after giving up my 2007 e350sport. my concern is with my suspention. my 07 was a very soft ride. while my 08 is extremly stiff. both cars had 18 inch wheels with identicle tires . I'm sure the amg comes with a diffrent suspention then the sport package but should the ride quality be so diffrent. my 2008 e350amg has less body roll but a much bumpyr ride. also my 07 had a stifer steering wheel while my 08 Is loos. very wierd..... is there problem with my 08
. does amg pack really cause diffrent ride quality then sports?

Check your tire pressures with a good TP Guage. They are way overinflated during build & transit "to prevent flat spotting" & I bet your dealer did not lower the pressure to what it says on the gas filler door. Even 5 lbs too much will make a big difference in the ride. Also check the Air suspension setting (if equipped) you may have had is on standard or #1 on the other car and its on # 2 now... my bet is on overinflation though.

Did you take a big hit moving up 1 MY?

Most people like the pop out stick guage. I prefer the round guage with numbers & lines & a short brass shaft that fits the valve stem. (NO little hose attached to it) Beware though that if its been dropped, it probably inaccurate. Some people swear by the digital electronic guages. (About the size & shape of a Pez dispenser, sold at BJs/Costco). NEVER trust a pressure guage thats built into the inflation hose at the gas station.

The more I think about your rock had ride, the more I believe you are grossly overinflated.

You would know if you have Airmatic:
- from your datacard,
- from the suspension control buttons next to the gear stick
- looking at the struts
- looking at the top of the strut at the engine bay, from a small tube connected
to mention a few.

But really the Sports or the AMG suspension cannot maintain the ride comfort (if comfort means soft and bumps not noticed etc.) while making the car response and extreme handling improved. Airmatic would get closest with the option to select one or the other. I'm afraid it is only those who say that 20 inch wheels have the same ride comfort as original 16 inch wheels.

They don't make E350's w/ Airmatic, at least not in the U.S.

To my knowledge, they do not change the suspension between the SPORT and the SPORT w/ AMG Package ($2k option)...you get these things with the AMG Package:

428: AMG shifter paddles
772: AMG sportline
792: 18" monoblock wheels
80v: Speed and load index
951: AMG sport code
954: Avant garde package (sport)

sport vs AMG pkg cars have identical suspension. sounds like you have a 'friday afternoon' MB. go to your dealer and drive another 08 AMG pkg car and compare with yours.

That's what I thought too, but I wasn't sure so I didn't want to say.

They certainly do allow Airmatic as an option, even for an E200 CDI, even if it isn't available in the US.

Edited: this was supposed to say that Airmatic is available for an E350 and several other models in Europe and several other markets, even if it isn't available for the E350 in the US.

No airmatic in the E350 or E320 for the US...only the E550 and E63's have airmatic and ADS suspension's in the US

I thought a brochure stated a specific AMG suspension but the above must be correct after all, at least for the US market.

You can actually calculate the points your car has and see the springs part number given for your points. See the attachment. US owners can ignore other than those where 494 is mentioned.

well the amg package e350 is lower then my old 2007 sport e350

better handling with amg but harder ride,

im not concerned with ride qualty my concern is if the ca is defective, dealers will just blow u off and say amg give stiffer ride but that may not be true
