TV Tuner info
Here's a question for all you Euro Comand owners out there...
How many of you have the factory tv tuner installed?
Ive seen these all over the internet, but i have no idea which ones will actually work with our cars.... all i know is that there are 2 versions - digital (dtv) and analog.
the problem is, i've seen over 3 different designs of tuners claiming to be for the w211. here are some pics i found:
all three of these have 211 part numbers... and ive seen probably 1 or 2 other designs with 211 part numbers as well.
can anyone shed some light on the situation? most of the tv tuner related posts in the AUDIO and TELEMATICS forums deal with comand 2.0, a whole other animal.

Analog TV is being discontinued in Europe, or has already been discontinued in some countries. This is probably why there are a lot of analog tuners on sale.
Part numbers A211 820 14 17 and A211 870 27 89 I believe are analog only while A211 870 37 89, A211 870 43 90, A211 870 47 90 and A211 870 73 90 should be analog/digital TV tuners for a 211.070 (experts would probably be able to install models that have not been intended for this car).

thanks diesel... we can always count on you for good info...
the part number you supplied means this is the correct DTV or DTV/ANALOG tuner for the w211:
my question now is where do i find a wiring diagram / harness that tells me how to connect this thing to the fakra connection on the back of my comand? the older analog tuners had a fakra connection (simple one wire plug and play connection between the tuner and comand). does any one have any idea how these new DTV tuners are hooked up?

the first tuner you posted is appears to be a dual tuner capable of both analog and digital tv signals. (i have that one). The next one is a analog tuner which will work fine with your car. There is another variant of the second tuner you posted that does not have the brown fakra connector and that is for the S class and CL class cars. That will not work on your car. Make sure yours has the brown connector. The last tuner is an analog tuner for d2b based cars which works on all pre most cars. That also comes in 2 versions. With and without RCA plugs. if there is no RCA plug, then those can be added with an adapter cable. The easiest solution is either first or second tuner.
