Oil recommendation and ? on E wagon...
Also, I have just ordered my rear cargo mat for my wagon but noticed that it does not quite reach the back of the rear seat - in the brochure, in fact, there is a vertical divider about 11" from were the seat meets the floor, that again goes up and contacts the upper part of the back seat. Completes the 'triangle', if you will: if the seatback is the hypotenuse, then this 'divider' is the longer of the two sides that make the right angle.
I don't have this divider, I assume it just makes it look nice - and removes access to 11" of floor space? Only thing I don't like is that my new $200 mat does not cover the entire back of the car - perhaps I'll get this divider.
Thanks all,

Yeah, this is still the default oil for the gas cars. The newest diesels must run the new M1 5W40 ESP product. There have been issues with this 229.51 oil in the gas cars. Full details unknown at this time.
Smash, find an oil that meets 229.5. There will be many in your location. I suspect they're going to recommend the xW-40 weight.

I got a Carbox II off of Ebay a few weeks ago. My problem is, it is ever so slightly too long, rather than short. When I close the rear I have to push a little more than I used to, to engage the lock to fully close the rear. It's OK for now. I thought about cutting out a little bit around where the lock mechanism is, but this would ruin the all around 2" lip it has. I imaging, very soon, snowy soaking dogs, boot, skates, etc, and it would be nice to keep the mucky water in one place and not draining down into my lock mechanism.
Yes in Germany there are some different oils. In fact they are longer life in some cases - I don't know all the details but one thing I wondered is if any of the available off-shelf USA oils are good for the 10-15000 KM that are the normal service intervals for the car.
Bottom line I have just had it serviced here and decided to do an oil level check - the car says "add 1.0 quart to reach full level" so I thought I'd top it up. No, there are no leaks. I assume the MB tech just didn't fill it to the absolute top or didn't let the filter fill first.
Anyway I'll look around for some oil. I've also got to replace the wiper blades and noticed they are probably a dealer-only item as well, perhaps I'll simply go buy them both.

Don't know what it'll cost to replace it, but it may be worth it.
