Registering for MB roadside assistance

Gents,

I have recently bought a 2 yr old E500, still under warranty (but not CPO, it was an auction sale). How do I utilize the roadside assistance option? Do I need to register? I see that I'm getting emails from MBUSA, does that mean I have an account?

Once I get registered, how do I call for assistance, if needed - the red button?

Many thanks,

Smash

do you have teleaide? bc Road side assistance is included. also the red sos button only works with teleaide. however there is a toll free number that you can call if you need roadside assistance however, i believe its during the warranty period.

Update - Ok been studying the past couple hours. Looks like the vehicle came standard w/roadside assistance. I found the 1-800 number in the books for that. I'll send off the card in the book that's made for the 'preowned' buyer, I assume to use this service.

Oh and yeah still under warranty, so I assume roadside assist is free with warranty, and costs $ if no warranty, but still useable. I hear they are fast.

Thanks,

Smash

.
My understanding of the roadside is that you can call 1-800-MERCEDES for the duration of the cars life. You might want to call your nearest MB service department and find out for sure though. The post card you sent in is letting MB know you are the new owner of the car, they will mail you any TSB's or recalls that need to be performed.

This is what I understand to. I read that if called they can:
1. Change a flat for you by putting on the spare
2. Jump start the car, if needed.
3. Provide a gallon on gas if you ran out
4. Any other problem, they will tow you to the nearest MB service dept.

TeleAid and Roadside Assistance are 2 separate things. Roadside assistance comes with every MB free for the life of the car... and youre covered even if youre driving someone elses MB. TeleAid is subscriber supported, and offers "OnStar" like features if you subscribe to them. Call MB & ask for the TeleAid sales pitch. They'll be happy to connect you to the correct people. Have your credit card handy & think of a Password in advance.

Hmm, ok maybe I'll call. I will only have the car in the USA until Jan 1, when it gets shipped over to D-land - it may not be worth it. Nice peace of mind however if we do need it, and the S.O. travels alone with the kids a lot, since I work so much.
