De-Badging
OK guys I want to de-badge my car but don't know how...i've been told that i have to use a blow dryer and dental floss to take off the badge...is this true? is there another way to de-badge without ruining the paint?
This thread has some really good info (All credit to

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/106149-recipe-debadging-your-car.html

Ingredients:
1 hair dryer stolen from the nearest female
1 extension cord
1 yardstick
1 old creditcard
1 bottle of goof off
1 bottle of windex or something similar
1 old rag
1 bottle of cheap beer since your car and mods use all your dough

-
Step 1. Measure the location of your badges incase you ever want to put them back on! My car is leased so this is a must.
-

-

-

-

-

-

-
-

-
Step 2. Clean your badges and the area around them.
-

-
Step 3. Heat one letter/number at a time with the hair dryer for 30 seconds.
-
-
Step 4. Use the creditcard to pry underneath the badging.
-

-
Step 5. Laugh at the creditcard that warped because the hairdryer got it too hot. :p
-

-
Step 6. Slowly peel off the badges one letter/number at a time. I started with the 0 in C230.
-

-
Step 7. Laugh at how funny the badges look halfway falling off.
-

-
Step 8. Pull the badge until it comes off.

No problem, THis was not done by me. ct230k did the write up, I just copied and pasted
Lol, def not 503. I don't know what else you would put on there.
If you u put a higher number, you will probably get made fun of because you will be called poser and all that crap. It's your car so do whatever you want

Id be leary of using a credit card, it is VERY easy to scratch your paint while debadging your car.. dont ask me how I know.
And whatever you do, when removing the residue of the double sided tape, DO NOT scrape at it using your finger nail. Use some goo gone, maybe some denatured alcohol and a soft microfiber towel.

also take care as the paint will be MUCH softer having been heated up and is more prone to damage, like the badge pressing into it when you lever them off. using the dental floss method is a bit safer in my opinion.

Forget the Credit Card and heat...Just use Floss, cut through the bagde tape slowely, then use the goof off...It will take all of 10 min....Have a beer while the goof off does it's thing....then wipe off gentle with a terry cloth...

+1 on this.
I struggled with myself about doing this. I just did this last week and I like the way it turned out. I just heated up the numbers one by one with a blow dryer and peeled them off with my fingers. No floss, no credit card, no fishing line. I just kept rocking it back and forth and they came off real easy. Then I used goof off to get rid of the residue, used a clay bar on the area and waxed the area. Piece of cake.

It removes oils from you hands so fingers will look a little white for a few minutes. Keep it off seats/dash.

PASSENGER - "Dude, I don't know....that SMORES 32 model Mercedes just smoked your *** from the stoplight. They're developing some new models that are FAST."
DRIVER - "I'm gonna Google that new model merc, SMORES 32 tonight. Time to get some sweet mods."
