COMAND + HK Stereo

COMAND + HK Stereo
This maybe a stupid question, but here goes. I have ordered the HK stereo + the COMAND/Navi (to be installed later). When they install the COMAND, will the HK be removed? I just was thinking about this and since the COMAND replaces the whole headunit, do I lose the HK, in which case, I can still pull it out of my order...

Good queston. I guess most of us will be going through that...since the majority of people on this board have opted for the NAV unit. Even though I don't know for sure, I would assume the answer would be no, you still have an HK system because:
1. You still have all the upgraded speakers.
2. You still have the amp; if it's not built into the head unit...i'm pretty sure its not.
The only thing that leaves is the Logic 7 software....which is easily added to the NAV head unit.

But that would mean there would have to be 2 part numbers for the COMAND system, one with Logic 7 and one without (unless it is something they could reprogram during installation..??)

Speaking from experience with BMW 3 series HK systems, the HK part of it is ONLY the speakers and amps.
The amp has more power and the speakers are better. The head unit is the same regardless of the HK or stock sound system.
I'm pretty sure the MBs are the same way. Also, I don't think the head units are made by HK anyway. It's probably Alpine or something.
