It is a mystery to me
I have owned a 2003 E-320 for about a year. It was a 39 month lease that I purchased from a local reseller in the area who moves about 50 -60 lease cars a month. The car was basic, clean and low mileage. I am such an audiophile that I just realized that no sound comes from the driver's side. The car has Logic 7 feature, Audio 50 radio and no Harmon Kardon badging. Their appears to be one subwoofer in the back package shelf, door speakers and tweeters in the windshield pillar. No sound coming from either footwell, so I am guessing that would be an upgrade. I removed the speaker cover from the driver's side A pillar. There was no speaker in place. Looks like it was disconnected (I see a loose connector but it is larger than the clip connecting the passenger tweeter). I took the speaker cover off of the main door speaker and removed the 4 torx screws to see if I could get to it. Would not budge. I started taking the door panel off from the bottom and had good luck till I got near the top. It would not budge. I removed all of the screws that I could see and I was afraid to break it. I am going to guess that something got noisy and it was disconnected. Who would steal a 1" tweeter? Seems like I read that M-B radios have a pre amp or something unusual. I believe I could afford a replacement tweeter but I would like to get the door panel off to see what is going on. I may just elect to leave it as I rellly don't notice it and the cure may kill the patient. Any suggestions?
