Flat spots on your tires, maybe? I've heard of people having this problem if they don't drive the car for a while or park the car outside in extremely cold weather.

Or, have you ever used fix-a-flat in your current tires? If so, it liquefies and settles in the bottom of the tire. When it gets below freezing that liquid will freeze and cause a vibration.

Just a thought.

My vehicle does the same thing, but after about 5 minutes the vibration disappears. This only appears in the morning when I leave to go to work.

Re: Vibration

I bet it is due to lower tire pressure due to the colder temps.

We had our first cold snap last week, and I had to add 2 - 3 pounds to all the cars/truck in my fleet.

I would check the tire pressure.

You might check to see that the wheels are balanced properly as well. Small imbalances are perhaps exacerbated by the low tire pressure from the cold??

Forgot to mention that my old 01 E320 I had used to do this UNTIL I got the tires rotated and balanced...

Mine goes in next week for service. I have an Inde that does tire and brake work. Said he'll rotate and balance for $50-$80 depending on the weights and application to wheel. When this started, I thought it was a wheel balance/tire pressure problem. Judging from everyone's input, I believe I may be correct in my assumption.

BMW FTW
Its the tires... I have this issue on my BMW with run flats and its magnified vs normal tires. I usually hit the road and zig zag like the race cars for a few blocks to warm them up (traffic permitting of course). I have noticed it on the E class also but its not as bad.

I had this flat spotting problem with my 04 Acura TL, they use those crappy Bridgestones, I switched to Michelin A/S Pilot and no problem at all. Also P nero zero had no problems either.
