WTF was I thinking ?!?!?!

I went to MB of Laguna Niguel to show my wife the car I've been drooling over for the last several months (that would be the new E500 in Brilliant Silver with Charcoal interior).
We poked around at the cars and stuff, and went and looked at one on the lot with a pano roof. The Mrs. thought the C-class was cute.
We went to lunch in Laguna Beach, and decided to go back and ask for a test drive since the salesman was so patient and nice, and there was little activity at the dealership, so we didn't feel like we were taking him away from an actual sale.
All said and done, we left 5 hours later with TWO Mercedes Benz cars. Both brilliant silver with charcoal interior. Hers, the C-320. Mine, the E-500. Both 2003 model year.
My E (which is what we want to talk about anyhow since this IS the new E forum), had *exactly* what I wanted, and of the 7 new E's on the lot, it was the ONLY one with the E3 sport package. It has the Active ventilated seats, Drive Dynamic seats, the auto-rear windshield shade, the split-folding rear seat, and the E-3 sport package. It also has the CD changer, and chrome wheels.
Best part of all, $650 below MSRP! (chrome wheels not included in that...they were another K).
Anyhow, had to share. Hate to talk and run, but I wanna go get a glass of vino and break out my new owner's manual and start reading!!
Thanks to all those who have been so helpful and entertaining since I've joined this great site!

As for the pricing, well......I was playing a sucker's game. I was there with no gameplan, no support documentation, and I found the EXACT car I wanted, when they're in high demand and low supply in ANY configuration. Besides, this other couple wanted to buy it at the same time. Ya shoulda seen me swoop em at the test drive. Kinda like the VW commercial, where they were walking towards the car (and me), but we had snagged the key off the board seconds before they did :P

The stone was gorgeous, but wayyyy too light. Kinda like people that get snow white carpet in their houses. VERY very tough to keep looking that good! Gets dirty easily.
Not so with the charcoal interior

I'm gonna take my response to PM, to keep the thread on topic and to not post tooooo much personal stuff in the public forums.

I think you're right on both counts, lol!
What is she majoring in? I loved my time at SC and am very proud of the quality of people that come out of there.
I did my undergrad at a Cal State school, and thought all the nonsense about SC's alumni networkings etc were all that...nonsense. But I cannot tell you how much they have helped me! Fast tracking career, easy to get new jobs, etc.
Yeah, the coaching change has been an incredible help! The offensive coordinator, Norm Chow, *might* have had a little bit to do with it, lol!

BTW, the Brilliant Silver is great with the sport package. Now, why is it that all Californians have to have chrome wheels???? I remarried nearly two years ago and my wife (born and raised in Burbank and transplanted, thankfully, to FL) had a Lexus ES300 with chrome wheels. My mother-in-law (nearly 80) just got a Lexus GS300 with chrome wheels. I notice a large % of chrome wheels when I am out there and on pix from many CA. owners on this site. How come?
The East Coasters, when asked, said they hardly stocked any non-standard rims.
The Californians were astounded and noted that virtually *nobody* drives on stock rims in Cali.
I'd hope that would make it easier for me to get sport style 5-spoke wheels for my non-sport car (fewer spokes=easier cleaning theoretically), but perhaps not....

Congrats! Joe, you were a pleasure to work with. Those are some sweet cars you bought........come see me in a year for the 04' S500 sport j/k :p
EmMtEe, when we do the chromies on my bad boy, I'm gonna hit you up re: veh pulling to the right (see thread at https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...hlight=pulling) for more info.
PS--I'm gonna PM this to you too, not sure when you'll read this thread again.
