2006 E350
Question 2006 e350 going from 16" to 17" wheels

I've decided to dump my stock 16" wheels for some 17" aftermarket 'fat five' rims that I believe are similar to what came on the 03-06 E500's. Anyhow, I purchased the 17" rims online and they are showing 8 x17 size, 5 x 112 bolt pattern and 35mm offset. The W211 owners manual on my 2006 E350 says for 17" tires the wheel offset should be 38mm. Is the 3mm difference going to be an issue with the new rims? The recommended tires are 245/45 R17 95H.

Thanks in advance.

You need to match the specified off-set, also check the weight of the wheel, many replica wheels are much heavier than OEM which effects handling, braking, and acceleration

E500 sports pack with AMG kit
i agree with the rest of the crew. Fortunatlly mine came with 18" already on them (AMG package), and i gotta tell ya, the turning is awsome. The ride aint bad either... my TSX used to feel soooo much stiffer with 17"s on 'em. But then again, the tsx didn't have airmatic

You guys are funny. I talked to the TireRack folks and all of the wheels they sell for the W211 in 17" size have a 35mm offset and they said they are guaranteed to fit so it should be OK. Hopefully I picked a good tire, Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. I probably should have done the 18"s. I really like those new AMG wheels on the new 08 E class with the AMG package. Thanks.

I am also looking for something in 18" and planning to use the same tires as you; I think it is a great choice.

Please tell us if there was a reduction in ride comfort or not; that is the only thing keeping me from jumping to 18's; I drive over 150miles a day so comfort is very important to me.

Mission accomplished. I had the 17" rims and Potenza Pole Positions installed today, roadforce balanced and a 4 wheel alignment. All systems are nominal. I've seen no degradation of ride at all. The cornering is better, steering response is better, the car just does not feel as heavy anymore. The potenzas are just as quiet as the stock Michelins, if not quieter. I imagine 18's would make it even better!

jap tires give a very nice ride , soft and balanced. Potenza g3 s are very good. So are falkens or Yokos. michelins , contis etc are harsh.
