I just purchased a new copy of Navteq's Mercedes-Benz North America Map Update - Harman Becker COMAND DVD - NTG1 v.7.0 for my 2005 Mercedes E-500.

I put the new disk in the trunk DVD and it doesn’t seem to be working. The bottom of the screen shows GPS coordinates and altitude but no streets are displayed. Also the screen inside the speedometer is showing the direction and the named street properly.

Is there some procedure I need to carry out prior to installing this new disk? The system says "Navigation not active" The disk did not come with any instructions other than to say pop the new disk in.

Any advice is appreciated

Mention DTB P-B-82.85/524a AUG07 they need to update the navigation module software.

In addition, P-B-82.60/382b will update the COMAND software adding additional features: https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....8&postcount=31

Not trying to be a dumbass here but I don't understand that answer. Are you saying that before this new disk will work I need to visit my dealership and have them do a single update to my system software?

That's what he's saying. Should be free under warranty, if you're still within the 4/50K

Moot point now that you've sold it. Did you advise the purchaser that there may be a problem getting it to work ?
