Not much you can do to add HP to the 350. MB has pretty much maxed out the performance for that engine. You can try an ECU tune but that's only gonna get you about 20HP/20TQ for about 600.00

If it's important to you to win a lot of races, you need to get an E550 or E55/E63

How bad did you loose? Car length? Mazda 6 does 0-60mph in 7secs and E350 does 6.5 according to Motortrend and MB Website.

I dont know but I want to say my E350 performance is acceptable. Now E550 is another thing

Benz, are you referring ECU Powerchip? What's the brand name that you can get 20HP for ECU?

Do you know if he was stock? Maybe he had some perf mods because all things being equal I would think you'd beat him?!

+ 1.

My plans are KN filter, Royal Purple motor oil, ECU Powerchip, it should add up around 25HP which should put the E350 over 290HP

I recall you saying about that on the other forum. What kind of HP increase are we looking at if I were to do it.

I did an EVOTECH ECU tune from Adam at EuroElites. He was running a special a couple of weeks ago for 600.00

They claim 15/15 put I think that's being a little conservative. It definitely woke my car up.

I checked into SpeedTuning also. Any luck with these guys?

They are talking +25hp @ $325.00.

I need some punch without going to an 550....not ready for that bad boy yet.

Anyone hear anything about redline? I used that in my 740il.

Also what is the KN filer for the '08 E350. Will you mod the box?

More horsepower and less weight. I don't think any M-B shy of 100K is going to be a street sweeper. It is the wrong tool for the job. You may not take my advice but NOTHING beats the rush of a bike in the 5 lb / per horsepower range. You can tease them or just humiliate anything on four wheels that is under 700 h.p. Not a lot of those around my neighborhood. 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds is hard to come by in a car but easily obtainable for $5000 in a bike.

Example
M-B E 350 weight fueled and driver 4000# / 270 h.p = 14.81 lb/ h.p.

Suzuki GSXR 1000 weight fueled and rider 675# / 150 h.p. = 4.5lb / h.p.

If you try one on, you have only yourself to blame.

To get that kind of performance in a car (3500#) you need to be pushing
800 RWHP

You are probably not missing anything. I never heard of this Tuning Co before. I see that they can increase 25+HP on the car. I'm gonna look more into this.

Thanks

I understand. Honestly I think it'll be pretty tough to get a major increase in hp on an N/A car. That money IMO would be better spent on upgrading to an E500/550 or an E55.

Not sure since I didn't dyno it before or after. But my butt dyno picked up a significant difference, mainly after 3k rpm though. After 4k rpm the car gets a noticeable growl too and keeps it to redline.

It's not all about the horsepower gains alone. You need to look at the overall picture, the power gains across the whole rpm range, and the reliability of that company's tune.

I haven't checked out Speed Tuning USA, but I took my business to Powerchip since they are very familiar with MB and I didn't care to risk any mechanical failures due to a tune.

Yes, a company which I won't name blew an engine after trying to push the envelope on a 350 IIRC.
