Problem w/ mirrors

New problem with mirrors: recently my mirrors have been acting strangely. My driver side mirror has a mind of its own, and I constantly have to adjust it.

I disabled the "convenience feature" to eliminate that as a possible reason. The driver's side mirror, when backing up, points down as it is supposed to, however it continues to try to point down past the point where it's supposed to stop. It begins to make grinding sounds like it's going to break.

Any advice or similar experiences?

Many thanks!

MD

I never knew the drivers side mirror was supposed to dip down when in reverse. The Passenger side, yes... Thats a new one on me.

I also thought this was an additional issue (driver's side turning down), I've never seen that on my cars (it still exists on my Euro W221 and the older W211).

Only my passenger side too. And it takes a few seconds to readjust when you put it back in Drive

I followed the instructions in the manual on how to set up the conveniance feature for the passenger mirror and it just doesn;t work. I lowered the mirror and press M then the down button on the adjustment switch. The mirror does not move down when I press the down button which is supposed to mean it worked, but thwn I put it in reverse its a no go.

Any ideas?

If you dont have the choice of whether the feature is turned on or off in you Settings Menu (on the speedo), you car doesn't have that feature. (Mine doesnt either) It was discontinued on MBUSA cars because of complaints on its operation or user misunderstanding of its operation. MBUSA was interested is eliminating all complaints for better ratings.

You also have to make sure that the button for adjusting the passenger side mirror on the drivers door is selected...

I dont understand deutsch?

If your implying that I need to heed my own advice, I understand. I have searched and I know poeple have said that feature was discontinued but I just figured since there is 2 pages in the manual devoted to the pass mirror conveniance feature that maybe I would have it.

Thanks

I totally goofed! I meant to say that my passenger side mirror just keeps going down and down and makes grinding noises like the motor is stressed.

To eliminate the problem I'm keeping the driver's side mirror as the selected button, not the passanger side.

This problem started randomly for no reason...

for some reason I do not have the function "auto. fold when car is locked" in the settings, its a E240 2003 Jan. model

but I do have that function on the E320T CDI 2003 Sep.. is it something that you can get an update for?
