Google Earth Mercedes compounds

Hi Guys
I have been reading a few posts where it alleges that white is yesterday's silver? I am no fan of either silver or black but is it right that white is right? rather than read or trust a bloke on t'Internet, I thought it a good idea to see if anyone knows any suitable locations we can use Google Earth to establish whether this is true or false.

Is the importing docks in the US an interesting place to look and if so who has the locations. are there any better suggestions? The factory springs to mind but are the cars left in the open for any length of time?

Food for thought.

Regards
John from a cool damp Torquay

More specifically it's white with panoramic roof that's right.

Here in the US, our color choices seem to be between many shades of Silver, 2 Blacks or near Blacks, 1 Non metallic White, a Blue & a Green never seen on the Streets & a rarely seen Burgundy.

Here in the North East its Silvers or Black. In the South its Silvers or White.

Hi Barry,
Thanks very much for the input, do you happen to know the name of the ports where the US Mercedes-Benz arrive please?

Regards
John

Theres 1 in Baltimore Maryland, 1 in Florida & 1 in California, that I know of. I dont have the address anymore, but I do remember being able to look down & see rows and rows of cars parked, but from so high up, with the resolution available, they all looked either gray or black. (Light colored or Dark Colored.

Totally agee but a motoring journalist has alleged that in the US, white is becoming the more popular than silver coloured cars?? Can't see it myself, hence the request for locations of imported European vehicles.

Frankly, I don't have a clue as to whether white is overtaking Silver and Black but I doubt that a google image will reveal anything current, even if you can get the coordinates. Most of the images I pull up are 1- 5 years old.

I think real time satellite images are reserved for those who can afford the expense. Weather and Military come to mind. The google stuff I have seen does not have the resolution for that kind of snooping. Good thought though.

Here is a new European car import pound at Corby in England. I think it fair to say we can see how many white vehicles there are.

I failed miserably when I went to the newly imported Japanese vehicles which are located at Bristol.... The image was taken after a slight dusting of snow.

My own thoughts are that any ideas are better than no ideas, and far better to try and not succeed rather than give up before even attempting. I think a new car compound can give a better overall picture, as opposed to a single town or city???

Google is quite old, but speaking solely about my local area, the image is fairly recent, but definitely not taken within the last twelve months.

I think for sure that the marketeers are working on that theory John. Take the BMW 1 series 3dr and the new C class, both vehicles had their official launch photos in white. I think that says it all.
