That's crazy but I likes! So when you sent in your ECU, did you ask to have the speed governor removed or is it always removed with all ECU tuning? How was the car's stability at those speeds?

Man that is dangerous. Hit an armadillo at that speed and you are toast.

actually i went and had a Superchip ecu upgrade and it was done in house no removing and installing of the ecu. but i asked for the limiter to be removed and i told him my mods and they made a custom file for me. I think it runs smooth and i get better mpg and more Hp and loads of TQ..

Dude , you're nuts!

I got my un-modded E320 to 139mph for a brief moment until I realized I drive an un-modded car, so my tires aren't capable...Car rode no different than when I was going 90mph...handles great!

I could not imagine 160mph.

Just be careful...at that speed any obstacle in your way could kill you.

Yea, not to sound like a mom or anything but be careful bro. I've been at speeds like that before, and looking back it's just not worth it to me.

Being an engineer, my advise is to stay within the envelope and operating parameters for any object or device or face conseqences. In industry, under lab test conditions, we stress components to breaking point and through to total destruction. One needs to be extra careful while operating in an uncontrolled environment, especially when risk to life is involved. I have not always followed by own advise and paid dearly for the adrenalin rush or buzz. As an adventurer, I have done similar or riskier things too; how about driving a rear wheel drive Ford Cortina 1968, twenty miles on the polar ice cap (not very far from it) with no snow chains; I survived to tell the tale. Several adventure stories like this..

Have fun but please be careful

I was careful, It happened in mexico on a flat deserted road with no Poliza and i hit 160 just to do it, i wasnt cuttin thru traffic just going straight, I wouldnt consider myself an adventurous type but a limit tester. Everyone always says WHY? i say just because it makes me feel good, will i do it again probably not but I did do it once thats all that counts to me. plus doing 160 was like i was doing 90..

I think most people that have never been out west don't know how hard it is to top a hill and see ten miles of nothing but flat road and stay at the limit.

I learned to drive in Spain back in the 70's when there was no speed limit ,
the limit was set by how fast your Seat 600 or 850 would run.
When a speed limit was started it was 130 kph and our school bus would run that , "82 mph".
I do drive fast on the parts of the highways that have few cars.

A few years ago I followed a X5 BMW and a CLS Benz from Albuquerque NM to Amarillo TX just around 285 miles in just two and half hours almost no traffic , we slowed down for other drivers and then moved on.
I think we passed about 20 cars.

That said I know most people don't have training to drive fast or have the cars setup "tires" to do it so I hope they don't.
I get to take my cars out on a SCCA track every now and then and it just plain fun.

In town I'm the person that passed by the little gray hair old man.

No. My last car I drove over 170,000 miles with my ECU remapped.
My CDI I have driven about 35,000 miles with the ECU remapped so far.
I use Upsolute.

Sounds about right:

My 2004 E-500 will do 162 MPH or 260 km/hr as per the factory specs.

New tires rate for the speed is a must.
