Service C Due @ 65k. Help...

My 03 e320 is due for a Service C @ 65k. I called the dealer and they quoted me $1200 for the service. The service rep said they would do the following: Flush Brake Fluids, Oil Change and Filters (Air and Cabin).

I called my local independent service station and they quoted me $581 for the same service.

Is this a good price?

I’m located in Lafayette, CA.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds a bit high. My E500 is due C in 8000 miles. Last month I had the entire SBC replaced due to total failure and the brakefluid was changed then. I can change oil and cabin filters. Today I plan to service the transmission. I will check FSS to make sure I don't miss something. So for my C I will oil change / filter and reset. The cost of transmission oil change is $200 for materials with me doing it at home. The MB fluid is right at $20/qt.

The letter, A, B, C, etc, is not terribly important. The big deal about your service is that the fuel filter needs to be replaced at 60K miles. I was quoted about the same cost that was quoted to you. The SA said the filter alone is about $800. It is in the fuel tank and they have to remove the tank to get to it. They might replace the fuel pump also, but not sure on that. Good luck.

To get to the fuel sending units you just need to remove the rear seat and access covers, and as long as the tank is 3/4ish or lower no fuel will drain out. You do not need to remove the tank.
A service: Oil change, top off fluids, check brakes, maybe rotate tires.
B service: Oil change, top off fluids, check brakes, maybe rotate tires, replace engine filter.
C service: Oil change, top off fluids, check brakes, maybe rotate tires, replace engine fitlers, maybe coolant flush, brake flush, fuel injection flush...
Have not seen any dealer replace fuel filter on a regular C service.
If you want the filter replaced, go in for that and an oil change.

$1200 for an oil change is way too much! If they are willing to change the brake pads or pads + rotor along with the oild change then it's worth it since you will probably need new pads soon. My pads and rotors were worn out at 32k miles so at around 65k I will need to change it again.
