I have an 08 E350 w 2800 miles and avg 300 miles per 17 gal tank. that is about 17 miles/gal with sport mode. I do about 70 percent city driving. kinda low no?

I average 20 MPG city/highway.
Usually don't get below 19mpg on any trip, and have gotten 27 on the highway trips.

I think it might be OK since you're driving in the CITY, and you're in SPORT mode (starts in 1st gear rather than 2nd, thus a higher RPM) and you might be driving the car harder than the average person.

I have an 08 E550 .. city only, I get around 15-16 and I drive the car pretty hard.

Highway has been AMAZING .. I drove 120 miles all highway over the course of 2 days and got something like 26-28 mpg on average doing something like 75-85 mph driving the whole time. I posted the actual figures in another thread, so I'm telling them to you via memory, but the figures blew me away. Not really that surprising now that I think about it because you can drive the car at 75mph and its not even at 2000RPM.

I suddenly feel better about my E500.

19 average on twisty 2 lane roads to work daily (10-80mph changes frequently) with lots of hills.

24 highway @70-80

Goes downhill to ~20 quick when I hit speeds upwards of 90.

Of course, my wife just traded in her CLK430 for a '08 Focus almost worth it now that I've seen it. 30's average mpg plus the sync stuff is pretty neat for only $400 more.

And I'm still kicking myself for not waiting for one.

Your city MPG "is what it is" too many variables to get an accurate MPG.
The true measurement is on the highway, if your highway is MPG is over 25 @ 70 MPH I think your E350 is OK. I think 17 is combine is good.

Today I drove a little over 200 miles and clocked 37.4 mpg. half at 75 and half at 60, flat as a table top drive.

It probably will but I only have statistics for my 70/30 highway/city from my daily 153 mile round trip to the office (which incidently has recently stopped due to end of my contract). I have seen other reports (on this forum) reporting upto 41mpg straight highway with pictures to prove it and an unconfirmed 50mpg report from an MA doctor who does 220mile daily round trip to his place of work.

I get about the same in my E350 4matic city driving. About 25 highway averaging 75mph. For some reason 22 with cruise control. I guess the injectors are always open with cruise control???

I get 18 in the city in normal driving, 9 when driving flat out, and 29.9 on the freeway. The first and 3rd numbers improved about 10% since the Powerchip tune.
