2003 E500 sport

help with my keyless go

hey guys im trying to figure out how to use my keyless go. the car is a 03
e500. when i do what the owners manual says it says key not reconized.
it wont lock/unlock and start the car and it says i can roll down the windows but it wont work. what can i do? do i have to have them programmed at the dealer? help me out guys! thanks.

Also you should'nt have a cell phone or other electrical devices which may interfere with the signal.
